satire?
Ridiculous, peppered with a desperate faith in Christ, and even included Christian Christmas hymns.
Everyone can have their own opinions, mine is I love the film and watch it every Christmas season along with A Christmas Carol and a few others...
More of the P.C.B.S. that is ruining this country...the libs ‘speak’ and everyone just sits back, about time people started speaking out for and against things again....
I love the movie and this article is just flat out funny! In case you didn’t have time to actually read the article and have only read the posts here is the first paragraph:
“The Christmas Eve showing of It’s a Wonderful Life may be intended to make you believe in the importance of even an ordinary persons life, but underneath that, what are the films secret hidden messages, the ones that become apparent only after two or three eggnogs? Lets mull over some of the wackier possibilities.”
GET IT? See the words “two or three eggnogs” Clark? It is your first hint that this is humor. Your second hint, Cousin Eddie, is: “....the wackier possibilities.”.
But then some of you think Grandma Got Runover by Reindeer is truly tragic.
Whatever drugs this idiot is taking are only making him delusional
I guess the messages were so secret...no one ever understood them.
This is silly, for Gods sake, it starts off with angles in heaven. The angle is sent down to stop an otherwise very good person from committing a sin. There is nothing anti-christian about this movie.
Does the idiot that wrote this know the difference between communism and voluntary community-ism?
One is top down iron fisted control to supposedly help the little guy but it never does.
The other one is grass root voluntary charity that helps everyone.
Mr. Potter was a crony ahole banker. George baily was the small/mid sized community bank.
Potter loved being too big to fail....
Kyle has waaay too much under-utilized time at his disposal.
Say what you will about Pottersville, at least it had a nightlife.
It’s just a movie for God’s sake. Can’t people just relax. And if it was a socialist message from 65 years ago...I think it failed miserably.
Atheist film? Does that explain the daughter’s reference to an Angel getting his wings?
Take your meds, Kyle.
I can’t stand the movie myself but Jesus, Smith. Get a freakin’ life, will ya?
Lets waste time scanning movies like Star Wars for political messages whilst we are invaded by head-choppers, third worlders and their sickness and anyone else that will not assimilate.
Yep.
I had heard that Capra supported General Franco. Doesn't sound like a lifelong apathy towards Catholicism.
Donna Reed was pretty!
“discredit bankers by casting Lionel Barrymore as a scrooge-type so that he would be the most hated man in the picture”
Huhhh?
The central theme of the movie shows George Bailey as a banker who did great things for people.
