Lying may be part of it, but I think for those who genuinely go to America’s cesspool of Washington, D.C., they get it “explained” to them that they can forget about changing the system. Have you checked out the net worth of people going to Washington, before and after? Almost all of them have vastly increased their net worth, by millions. They didn’t do that by saving their Congressional/Senate salaries.
