Women require higher standards.
***
Exactly.
Also, my husband can have on a pair of pants or a shirt in his size and not have to worry about how it is cut. If it’s marked as his size it will fit him. Not so with women’s clothing.

This is not true for everyone. MrD has always spent much much more on his toys than I spend on everything, clothes, shoes , make up, etc etc.

Oh, you are going straight to heaven when you die! There are days I feel the same way...my wife is one of 7 daughters, so I've had to deal with six sisters-in-law for over 30 years.
I've paid my dues...lol.

"How many pairs of shoes do you really need, ladies?" I've never really been that much into shoes, at least the way some women are.
But then there's makeup, skin care, hair products, manicure and pedicure supplies, clothes, jewelry (I love silver and don't care for gold or stones, so I'm low maintenance there), etc.
It is what it is, and I accept the burden.

" My wife and daughter must have about 12 different brands of shampoo floating around the house at any given time. My son and I both stuck to one. That's because you guys have a lot less hair than we have, generally. Women end up having to try different shampoos and conditioners to see what works on their hair, or what ruins it.
Trust me on this.

I buy most of my clothes at The Salvation Army on half-price day ... which is today, come to think of it ... but if I want to spend an extra dollar on soap that smells like flowers, I will!

And, then keep the bad ones for eternity.

Seven daughters in their teens at once? That seems almost mathematically impossible! We presently have four teenagers: boy 19, girl 17, girl 15, and boy 14.

"Quit buying make-up? Uh-huh. But how many men here go on and on about the beauty of the bimbos on Fox News and other bimbos who are over-painted?" The funny thing is, I hear guys say they love the way women look with no makeup. Not long ago, a male Freeper posted a picture of a woman "without makeup" to make his point, and he said, "See how pretty she is!"
We ladies patiently pointed out to him that she was wearing concealer (at least---probably foundation), eyeliner, mascara, brow pencil, blusher, and lip tint.

I can't argue with that, LOL. I tend to go through and cull out the useless ones now and then.

One of my choir members designs and makes all my jewelry, at an average $20 for a necklace/earrings/bracelet set, or just $6 for earrings. And your other post above reminds me that I need to call another friend and find out if her granddaughter with the Mary Kay business is home from college!
Anyway, this whole topic, to me, is a simple case of “whatever the market will bear.”

My wife and have had this conversation once. Just one time and we will not do it again.
I pointed to all the shoes, purses, make-up, hair products, .... And said some smart comment. Her response was she needed a pair of shoes for each gun I had and products were like ammo. Now boys, I like having plenty of ammo.
She won the conversation and my toys, supplies and products cost way more than hers. But I do have a “arsenal” with so much ammo that it will make the news. When they report that crap on tv, I chuckle and say ameture most of the time. Mostly on the ammo.
So men’s toys and products are way more costly. JMHO
