For a while I was up to 3 machines folding, but in the intervening years my desktop died and my old laptop died, so now I’m just slowly folding away in the background of my sole surviving laptop.
I won’t win any medals for speed or volume, but it doesn’t cause me any problems, so I’ll keep it going. Saving the world one protein at a time. :-)

Have you upgraded to the latest F@H client?
Much faster.
Also, try blowing out the laptop with some canned air. It'll help keep the heat down and the laptop will last longer.

Not news and too obtuse to be activism.
You sign up two weeks ago to post this nonsense?

It would be interesting to see if a VM would allow direct access to a multi-multi-cored GPU to use for number crunching.
My old desktop with a new video card works fine with FAH running at low priority in the background. I don't see the need to try running it in a VM with the inherent inefficiencies.

It's good to see there are a few others out there using this massive computing power we have been blessed with to do more than complain about the idiot politicians... There's still a couple of us still runnin' the grandaddy of 'em all. ;-)

You don’t know what you’re talking about. I suggest you cool your jets for a moment and read the thread.

Wow I didn’t know this was still going on! I should re-download the client and get it up and running again.
To: texas booster
I have a dumb question.
I'm no tech wiz, so what happens if I need to reboot my computer?
Will that mess up my participation in this folding effort?

And just think. My 4 computers just sat here and Freeped the whole time.
I think I'm better for it.

I love the hull-a-ballu that rouses on a folding thread!
I might of helped the Freeper team a small bit but my electrons got tierd easily, spinnin’ so fast all the time.

Got it.
But why have someone who registered here 2 weeks earlier post an ambiguous vanity?
Speaking for myself only — I’m not too bright.
Need a little more info, you know?

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)
To: PROCON
The F@H program actually computes small snippets of protein folding, saving the interim calculations along the way.
You can pause or stop the folding, restart the computer and it takes up from the last saved calculation.

Yes you should.
If you use the same folding name as before you get all of your points back.

I think that SETI was the first, but I stopped it and went to Genome@Home while everyone was still trying to decode the first DNA gene.
Please restart folding - you are still listed on our team.
