Scarborough: Haley Barbour Would 'Much Rather' Have Hillary Than Trump as President
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/17/2015 5:55:24 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

A modern-day variation on "better red than dead" . . . Joe Scarborough says that Haley Barbour and many Republican leaders would "much rather" have Hillary be president than to let Trump win and represent the GOP.

On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough said that if it looks like Trump will win the nomination, something Scarborough sees as very plausible, he envisions Mitt Romney or Michael Bloomberg jumping into the race as a third-party candidate. Not really with the goal of winning, but rather to "take a bullet," splitting the vote and denying Trump the White House.

I guess there's nothing going on in the world, so we have to make news up.

This just in! There is reason to believe Joe Scarborough will vote for Hillary over Trump or Cruz.

More conversations like this since Trump was perceived to do well in debate. Hewitt’s lineup last night of anti-Trump guests was insufferable including people who are normally decent folks like Sen Cotton

Sure they would!

They know Hillary is the flag bearer for the "Pay to Play" Washington elitist.

Hillary has no morals or ethics, right up their ally!

It was either way. Appeasers said better red than dead, defenders of freedom said better dead than red.

Is Schmoe crazy? Michael Bloomberg?

There have been ~100,000,000 privately owned firearms sold in America since Obama took office. Bloomberg would like nothing better than to have the power to order Federal LEOs to try to confiscate them.

Any GOP slate with Bloomberg on it, even as dogcatcher, would be atomized at the polls.

So yes, Schmoe is crazy.

That speaks more to the intentions of Haley Barbour than it does the fitness of Trump. Haley proved his lack of morality and ill intent in the Mississippi Senate debacle. He is one of the reasons the GOP needs to be burned to the ground to give a real choice from a party that honestly opposes the Democrats.

Then the GOP can go the way of the Whigs.

Amen. It's time to start shoveling dirt in it's face. If Ryan's secret budget negotiations with Pelosi and the ensuing product don't convince you, nothing ever will.

This just goes to show how corrupt the GOP has become. An ‘outsider’ might win and they are in a full blown panic. Makes me all the more curious as to what they are so terrified of. They know Trump will expose their corruption and they’d rather have a fellow crook to continue ruining our country!!!

Barbour is another enemy of the people!

This “Boss Hogg” idiot is not exactly someone whose opinion means anything.

The media is down to interviewing barnyard chickens and fence posts in their quest for a discouraging word on Trump. They missed the day in journalism school that talked about “facts”, and repeated the “spin” class more than twice.

So intent in using their potiential power, they forget that true power is based on truth, not fear.

Let him vote for Hillary, no one cares...but his power of influence went out with new Coke.

Politicians and media whores are all controlled by special interests at the expense of the public good. Term limits would eliminate the most corrupting influence in our entire political system: career politicians. If there were no one to buy, lobbyists would be out of a job and the rest of us might get honest representation.

Trump threatens to undo the existing power structure of power and influence. That includes both parties, since there is really only one party in Washington: The Re-Election party, dedicated to the personal wealth of its members at taxpayer expense. So it is very plausible that Haley Barber would support Hillary over Trump.

Donald Trump is not a candidate. He is a revolution.

If the GOP can go through the pantomime of replacing Boehner with Ryan in order to ‘make it all better’ and then expect us to welcome the new omnibus budget, they will obviously do anything to preserve their privilege. They must despise their voter base.

3rd party? Romney would be a concern. Bloomberg in the race would actually help Trump. IMO

_____________________________

I don't believe that the GOP can pull off a 3rd party candidate.

They fail to understand the Conservative vote has elected their candidates into office - or closer than they would have achieved otherwise.

In Romney's case, conservatives who voted held their noses and those that didn't vote were simply tired of holding their noses. Romney would wither in a 3rd party run.

We are tired of being wallflowers at out own dance.

Any attempt to have Romney or anyone as a vote splitting third party candidate will fail. The GOPe represents the donor class, not the base voters. Splitting the donor class out doesn’t take away votes. It takes away money, but then Trump has his own.
