Not really related but I watched the first of the 2 part series premier of “The Expanse” online last night. (It airs tonight at 9 eastern on SyFy)
Visually its stunning with great space scenes and they must have filmed a lot of the zero and low G scenes on a plane.
One of the early scenes was a social justice rally where the people living and working in the asteroid belt (The belters) were angry that the inner planets of earth and mars has stolen the wealth and water of the asteroid belt. There also appears to be a cold war between Earth and Mars that is about to go hot.
One of the main characters is a crooked cop with a heart of gold on Ceres. He takes the bribes but looks out for the belters enough to keep them alive.
One redeeming quality is that the UN doesn’t appear to be treated any too kindly in the first episode. The UN general secretary is seen tickling her grandson before flying to NY to torture a belter.
All in all, I’ll give it a few episodes to see how the story develops.
