Trump calls billionaire Saudi prince 'dopey'
CNN Money ^ | 12/12/15 | Ahiza Garcia

Donald Trump has responded to the Saudi billionaire who called him a "disgrace ... to all America."

On Friday, Trump called Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal "dopey" and accused him of wanting "to control our U.S. politicians with daddy's money." Trump said he wouldn't be controlled if he was elected.

Bin Talal's tweet, which Trump was responding to, also encouraged the Republican front runner to drop out of the race for president.

Bin Talal's tweet came after Trump's recent proposal to keep Muslims out of the U.S.

Prince Bin Talal owns 5% of Twitter (TWTR, Tech30) -- he's the second biggest shareholder behind former CEO and co-founder Evan Williams.

Bin Talal is also the 34th richest person in the world, according to Forbes. In July, he announced he would be donating his roughly $32 billion fortune to charity after his death.

Are you suggesting he shouldn't have slapped this little Saudi bitch? Also, have you ever tried holding a "deep" discussion on Twitter?

His reply asking how many Refugees Saudi Arabia was welcoming was all that was required. If he wanted to say more he could also ask how Christian rights are safeguarded in Saudi Arabia. Calling a dignitary dopey is immature and unnecessarily provocative.

Twitter is for twits. Thoughtful and serious responses are made with a different media more appropriate to logic and reason.

Every day billionaire Prince Alwaleed wakes up knowing he can have just about anything he wants in the world, except maybe a good laugh, and now Donald Trump has given him one.

A ‘’dope?’’ According to Wikipedia, ‘’Due to his prominence as a businessman, he was acknowledged by Time, who labeled the Prince as the “Arabian Warren Buffett”.

Imagine if Warren Buffett got annoyed with someone and wanted to destroy him. We probably haven’t heard the end of the Trump vs. Alwaleed brouhaha.

Well, at least he didn’t call him a maniac.

No, he reserves that for the top rated conservative in the Senate.

You know, I thought we were way past that ‘Trump’s a clown’ nonsense.

I guess it’s irritating some people to see how effective Trumps approach is.

It took Bush down in, what, four weeks?

We’re probably never going to hear from the dopy prince again.

Yet several threads about Trump calling Prince Whocares “dopey.” Something fishy and it's going to get me banned.

Why doesn’t Saudi Arabia take them in?

The Saudis don't allow any non-Muslim to become a Saudi citizen. Who would want to anyway?
They also DON'T welcome ANYONE else besides Saudis (and their foreign offspring) to live in the country. They don't even have tourism. NO TOURIST VISAS are ever given out.

The Haj brings in other Muslims but they leave after that. With no "tourist visas" allowed some cruise ships that stop in Jeddah allow debarkation ONLY for the day.

Foreigners get NO Saudi passport.

Saudi Arabia has 100,000 air-conditioned tents sitting empty, still will not take Syrian refugees

As Saudi Arabia faces mounting criticism for refusing to take in any of the millions of Syrians fleeing conflict in their homeland, it was revealed this weekend that the country has over 100,000 empty, air-conditioned tents that could house up to 3 million refugees.

The tents, located roughly 2,150 miles from Syria in the city of Mina, are only used a few days a year to house pilgrims on their way to Mecca for the hajj, the news station TeleSUR reported.

The huge tents are also fireproof and equipped with kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Is the Donald still in Jr. High? The guy is running for the highest office in the land and he can’t argue substance, and reason and instead defaults to a sophomoric ad hominem. Character matters, manners form and protocol are important. Maybe latter Trump can say “I’m rubber your glue, what ever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.” or “your mother dresses you funny”. His skin is as thin as Obama’s. Sure the cool kids all want to be his friend, but I would rather have an adult in the White House and Don Rickles at the celebrity roast. Let’s leave government to the grownups.

I agree that these particular remarks are silly for a Presidential candidate.

But to be fair Trump also uttered a 15 word statement that utterly destroyed this Saudi prince. The statement asked if Saudi Arabia had took in any Syrian refugees and if not, why not? It was brilliant.

IMO Trump should have left it at the 15 words. There was nothing else needed to be said. But Trump is Trump and that's what he does. You get the good with the bad. It's a package deal.

Doesn't affect me because I will be voting for Ted Cruz.

I think that you are confused that because some group is a grade ahead in school they are mature, when really they are not even close to graduating. Our current government is run by children. The president is a petulant brat, the congress is filled with corrupt bullies and the court with justices who are captive to their feelings. At our founding we had examples of adults. Madison, Adams, Patrick Henry, George Whitefield and George Washington were adult in their depth of thinking, eloquent speech and mature character. We can do better than name calling.

We’re probably never going to hear from the dopy prince again.

The royal family and the previously US-owned petroleum companies had/have close ties with the USA. The Saudis sell their crude first, knowing that we are "bagging" ours til everyone else on the planet runs out first.
Of course, the KSA has another 200 years of petroleum reserves.

The king had sold his petroleum (and natural gas) rights to the American oil company, ARAMCO, way back in the early 20th century and FINALLY bought BACK those rights in 1982.
In 1983 the King himself owns all the petroleum and natural gas and he, the king (This keeps the powerful families from fighting over it.) reaps in all those petro-dollars. It's HIS petroleum, personally, though with all that money, not Saudi riyals, but petro-dollars, he does have to "take care" of those people who need help. And, he does it.
All medical care and education if free.

In 1983 the king was making ONE BILLION U.S. DOLLARS every 2 and 1/2 days. I never could wrap my brain about that one. The price of petroleum rises and falls at the collaboration of the King, his ex-ARAMCO petroleum company and the USA.
The business partnership and friendship have existed there since the late 1920's.

Trump also asked the Saudi how many Syrian refugees his country had taken

The KSA has never taken in refugees from anywhere. Saudi Arabia is for Saudis and their families only.
They allow NO immigrants, refugees or tourists. They only allow foreign workers on WORK VISAS, visiting families (only close relatives), Hajjis and the few Red Sea cruise passengers onto land for the day.

It's always been a closed country. It's their country and that's the way they seem to prefer it, at least for now.

When Trump made that comment it showed that he hadn't done his homework. He SHOULD have known it. That's what his worker bees DO.

And he deserves some kind of respect b/c he's deemed a "dignitary"? I don't think so.

The amount of publicity Trump gets for free using Twitter and Instagram is staggering. Yet, “Twitter is for twits” is the mantra of those on here who know better, apparently.

“How many Syrian refugees has his country taken?” Trump

You said the same thing above, and it again begs Trump’s question.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia exports, encourages and foments jihad across the worlds. Wherever you find strife in the world it’s quite likely a `Mohammed’ is involved, regardless of the nationality or religion of the other combatant (usually victim).
The Syrians are a result of that provocative foreign policy. (The KSA’s religion and government are one-and-the-same.)
Why shouldn’t they `own’ this problem, or at least a part of it, of millions of muslim refugees? Why do they expect the west to support their `Brothers’?

The only support we can expect from the Saudis is criticism if we balk at taking the people they refuse, although eventually they will send money to them for `command and control centers’ AKA mosques.

If the KSA is going to raise Hell across the world, maybe they ought to consider changing their policies, whether that’s the way they prefer it or not, or maybe we should consider persuading them to join the community of nations, particularly when it’s their next—door-neighbors being affected by the inherent inability of practitioners of Islam to get along with anyone else, including one another.
