Trump at this exact moment?” The above quote from Rush’s Tuesday monologue attributes conservative criticisms of Trump to some deep-seated desire to earn “respect and admiration” from the biased mainstream media — the “drive-bys” as Rush calls them, a moniker that is often infuriatingly apt. This is a variation of the tired “Beltway cocktail party” refrain, wherein right-of-center figures deemed insufficiently devoted to the cause are presumed to be in the thrall of coastal elitists. That template isn’t always inaccurate, it must be said, but it’s been overused and abused as a means of impugning motives, rather than engaging arguments.....”
It looks like a LOT of FReepers are excited with this development.

Under the radar is the ethanol question, at least in the Iowa caucus.
Trump is all in on ethanol subsidies (disagree strongly). and Cruz is against them.
In Iowa this is a major issue.
Trump is trading in practicality, Cruz in altruism.
My brother-in-law farms a massive acreage in north central Iowa. He sells about 2/3 of his corn crop to ethanol suppliers.
He also votes dem every time. It will be interesting.

But he also understood that fascism and Communism were examples of bad populism. When populism is yoked to a cult of personality, the mob defines success as success for their leader, principle be damned. The leader becomes a repository for resentments, a vehicle for power, both cultural and political. As Willie Stark says to the adoring crowd in All the King’s Men: “Your will is my strength. Your need is my justice.”

If Trump wins IA it’s over nomination wise. If Cruz wins who knows. I admire btw guys. I think Trump is far more capable of winning blue dogs (lol) etc. Cruz is probably too religious for a lot of ppl. But hey, spoil of riches for us.
