Republican leaders are currently thrashing about - holding secret meetings, issuing confidential memos and making public denunciations - as they approach a state of near panic over what Donald Trump is doing to their party. It's enough to make some believe that Mr Trump may not have the Republican establishment's best interests at heart.
Could Donald Trump be a secret double-agent, sent by Democrats to destroy their party from within?

There are so many things wrong with the above statement, I am not sure where to start.
First the word "leaders" has to be qualified in parens "leaders" or stated as wanna be leaders, or former leaders.
If these former leaders are in a state of panic, it is because they represent the elite who know better than the voters.
In contrast Trump and Carson actually represent what the voters of this country want, especially on the issues that matter.
It is NOT their party; it is our party. They have forgotten to represent the voters.
Yet the Jeb donors are publicly saying they’ll support Hillary instead of Trump. If they’re on the same side, why are they so upset?
So this the latest try by the left. I guess their stalking horses such as Kasich did not work.

I was a Cruz supporter but have become disenchanted. The heavy hand of the Cruz pushers/Trump bashers on this site has solidified my gestalt into disgust.
Cruz is not the pure conservative he is being sold as. He has mixed motivations and is influenced by his big Government backers. He is starting to come across as smarmy and conceited. Cruz has not played well with others during his Senate career, producing a lot of sound and fury but little of substance. This does not bode well for his ability to govern the country. I do not think he will gather any consensus in his campaign from traditional Republicans and very few crossover votes from Independents and Dems.
Pushing him for the candidate while bashing Trump is a losers game that gets us Rubio or Hillary, both disaters of the first order.
He is a carnival barker.
I believe that the Republican establishment doesn’t have our interests at heart.
