Murdoch: GOP 'mad' to try dumping Trump
Washington Examiner ^ | December 12, 2015 | Eddie Scarry

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is cautioning Republican Party leaders against any plan to interfere in Donald Trump becoming the GOP presidential nominee.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that veteran party operatives and leaders met to discuss the possibility of a coalescing around a "mainstream" alternative to Trump, should he make it to the Republican National Convention next year with enough support to become the nominee.

"GOP mad to think of expelling Trump, or ganging up," Murdoch said Friday on Twitter. Doing so would "justify" an independent run by Trump, damanging the party's chance to defeat likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, added Murdoch, whose sprawling corporate empire includes Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.

Murdoch’s financier, Al Waleed, is going to be unhappy.

If Trump gets the required amount of votes/delegates prior to the convention and the RNC tries to take it from him, they are risking armed revolution.

The GOP in their death throes as they transform into the mini-Democratic Party.

Maybe patriots and freedom lovers need to rally around the Tea Party idea: decentralized and in every state and locality.

The very nature of a political party is once it is created, the centrally-organized Party itself becomes more important than the America they are supposed to represent. That is probably why George Washington hated partisan politics.

"mainstream" alternative

AKA, lover of the status quo, not a threat to those in power.

To: McGruff; All

Over the past few weeks, a conga line of commentators have come out against Trump. Cheney, Senor, Perino, Ridge coming to mind as of late. For the life of me I’m trying to figure out what they all have in common.

...damaging the party's chance to defeat likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton...

The GOPe these days is barely trying to even disguise their belief that they'd prefer Hillary in the White House to Trump. Should Donald Trump win the nomination, I fully expect powerful GOP leaders to come out in support of Hillary Clinton for President.

“After this cycle, the Republican party desperately needs to reform its rules. This does not mean tinkering at the margins, playing with delegate allocation formulas and debate schedules, as the Republican National Committee did after 2012. The 1970s reforms allocated power within the party based on a premise of mutual trust and respect between the voters and the establishment. Without that foundation, the rules are a liability and need to be substantially redrafted. The real danger is not that a clownish demagogue like Trump will win the nomination this cycle, but that a demagogue who is not so much a clown eventually will.”

That is the final paragraph of a piece from Jay Cost. http://www.weeklystandard.com/the-rules-matter/article/2000075

This is all about making sure that someone doesn’t roll in the RNC and CLEAN HOUSE of these cockroaches. They are worried only about their gravy train, cushy jobs and not worried one bit about America.

It also means that DT better continue to run in the GOP and he needs to WIN in order to get rid of these beasts.

Murdoch is dead on the money here, why fight the will of the people if Trump is the will of the people? This just telegraphs what the GOPe thinks about us, and what they think about democracy; They’re Marxists!

He’s exactly right, if they gang up and try to dum him, it will be a huge mistake.

I’ve been saying from day one, the GOP will do anything, including cheat, to keep Trump out of the election. The recent rumors about closed door meetings and secretly slipping Romney in is exactly what I was referring to. I’m not surprised at all, I’ve expected it all along.

What really irks me is they forced Trump to sign a pledge that he would support the Republican nominee, but they are doing everything they can think of, except support him...it looks like he has a very good chance of being that nominee, and the same people are not going to support him...

I also saw rumors that Trump and Carson might still decide to go 3rd party. Most people think that means say hello to President Hillary. I don’t think so. Trump is pulling voters fro everywhere, including democrats and independents. It won’t be easy, but I think he can still win it.

The other option I haven’t thought about, is...nahhh...they’ll never let Cruz get in either...but for the sake of argument -

Hillary vs Cruz vs Trump as an independent...

Cruz and Trump have 50% of republican voters between them already, plus whatever Trump pulls from all over, and what both pull from everyone else who drops out, it could still be an interesting match.

I’m dreamin’ though, if they manage to find a way to push Trump out, Cruz is their second target, they’ll do the same to him. If it happens, we’re looking at Rubio, Bush or Romney...rubio and Bush are both going downhill recently, so who knows...

Whatever, it’s going to be interesting. The GOP is going to try whatever they can think of, and it will probably end up being underhanded.
