That is how police officers are trained.
Tell me, how did officer Van Dyke arrive on-site and in SIX SECONDS determine his, and his life alone was in danger when each and every other officer who was also on-site, for far longer than Van Dyke was, did not draw their weapons or feel that their own lives were in danger? Based on the actions of the other cops onsite, they appeared to make the judgement call to let this kid burn himself out and wait to arrest him. Given it certainly didn't appear ANYONE was in physical danger, that sure looked like a reasonable call to make.
You can't blame the training. This was at best a gross error in judgement and at worst MURDER by Officer Van Dyke.
There is no other rational, reasonable, logical conclusion to be drawn here. Every single Sheriff's Deputy I know where I live says the exact same thing.

Just wow, I can see talking to you is a waste of effort.
Obama will give them a medal. If we can get either Cruz or Trump elected these scum might actually get prosecuted for something. God we need Cruz or Trump.
The cop involved was charged with first-degree murder! What more do they want???
Always more is the answer. Whatever concession or redress of grievances is presented to them, it will never be enough to satisfy their demands.
