Can Donald Trump's Mockery of a Disabled Reporter be Defended?
RedState ^ | November 27, 2015 | Leon H. Wolf

...Mocking a disabled person for their disability has been universally passe since at least the 1950s, and so some of his supporters have been out on twitter over the last couple of days offering various defenses for Trump's behavior on this video. It is important to note that Trump himself has (as far as I know) offered only this by way of "explanation" for his actions:

Defense 1. Trump didn't know Koveleski was disabled...

So, to believe that Trump had no idea what Koveleski looked like or the particulars of his disability, you would have to believe a) that the entire written record of their numerous interactions is fabricated, and Koveleski in particular (the very person on whose word Trump is staking his 9/11 claims) is flat out lying b) that he said "the poor guy" when referring to Koveleski because... well, I have no idea what the "because" is even supposed to be on that one and c) Trump was able to pull off an imitation of Koveleski's specific physical deformity purely by chance...

2. "The Media" mocked Trig Palin for having Down's Syndrome, so they are fair game.

...if Tom Brokaw insulted Dick Cheney, that would not give Rick Santorum free license to punch Jake Tapper in the face.  That's more or less exactly the defense that is being raised by Trump supporters, though.

3. No one is above mockery...

The problem comes when people are mocked, not for the things they've done, but for the physical conditions over which they have no control...

Trump has demonstrated time and time again that he simply is not suited for the office either by temperament or by judgment...

“.... he wasn’t mocking some crippled (yet nasty) reporter.”

If I may, Miss Marmelstein, I’d suggest a slight rephrasing to: “... he wasn’t mocking some nasty (yet crippled) reporter.”

Many of us have ‘suddenly’ been here for close to 18 years.

Plenty of time to get over yourself...or learn to shut your pie-hole for that matter.

Yes he is. - So are most of his comrades too ["rotted pond scum"].

I had a list going here on FR back in '98. :)

It's still laying around somewhere. I know quite a bit about the enemay...

It's surprising how many of the old names are cropping up in this current clishmaclaver.

I proudly support Sen. Cruz

It's a shame he's much weaker than Trump on immigration and can't get any traction in the polls.

He's a good guy, but lacks charisma.

If you’ve been paying attention, you know that FR active posters are about 75% Cruz supporters.

Used to be true or maybe you haven't noticed the blatant attempt to attach Cruz to every positive story on Trump.

Trump/Cruz.

"Your defense of Megyn Kelly is despicable. What a pathetic excuse of a voter you are."

Cat, you are over the line calling dschapin a "...pathetic excuse of a voter..." I have read his posts and find them to be well written and expressing his views without rancor or putting someone else down.

It appears he won't vote for your guy who does put down anyone in his path who doesn't please him (including Megyn and disabled people), but you can surely vote your conscience and he will vote his and I will vote mine - every voter is important and they are not "pathetic excuses of a voter".

I’m PC bro. PC principal was confused when confronted with someone who violated their PC sensibilities but was disabled themselves in the last episode of South Park.

It gave me an idea. Conservatives should find a black, gay, quadriplegic to ask the tough questions of liberal politicians like Obama and Hillary.

Nobody can criticize them. They are off-limits no matter what they say and ask.

Here is a link to one article about past interactions between Trump and Serge.

Very weak...

Trump held press conferences in Boston and Washington, D.C., during each stop. And there was a big presser in New York, of course — all of which I covered," he said of the shuttle launch day back in 1989.

So this guy was included in the gaggle of reporters who covered the story...He was NOT significant enough to get invited on the flights with other reporters who had...And ultimately Trump called the guy and chewed him out...

That certainly doesn't mean Trump had any idea what the guy looked like...There is no mention of a one on one interview...

I read the full article including the link provided that went to another article and yesterday, I watched a film of this reporter someone had posted, plus read about other face to face, one on one, meetings Trump had with the reporter. Trump knew exactly what he was doing and he is a fake person who lies constantly as it suits his purpose and, if caught, denies it and his supporters believe him. He is an impostor extraordinaire.

According to the lying "reporter", Serge Kovaleski himself.

Did I mention that Serge Kovaleski is a liar?

“How do you mock someone who has limited movements by uncontrollably flailing your hands?”

The reporter’s arm and hand are withered and permanently bent in front of his chest from birth - his hand/arm shakes uncontrollably in that position and that’s why Trump was shaking his hand/arm. He exaggerated the movement just as he exaggerates everything he says.

What we know is that Trump is on track to win the Republican nomination with formal acceptance on June 28 or July 18, 2016. Nothing has changed since June even though the lame stream media continues to try to take out the Republican front runner.

Think if Kasick or Bush or Rubio were the front runners? Oh wait, that is pretty much unthinkable at this point. Kasich, Rubio and Bush are going nowhere near being the Republican nominee. Donald Trump will likely be the Republican nominee. What will all the Rino’s do then? Will they support Trump then, knowing that the majority of Republicans support Trump? Or will they continue to try to sabotage him?

He will likely get standing room only attendance at tomorrow’s event:

Yes, meant “soul” but intentionally used lower case “god” when referring to those two men whom some people see as “god”. Would not capitalize God in that instance.
