Minnesota college students vote against honoring 9/11 victims, saying it’s offensive to Muslims

Students at the University of Minnesota killed a proposed moment of silence for 9/11 victims due to concerns that Muslim students would be offended.

Theo Menon, a Minnesota Student Association representative realized that the university wasn't doing anything to memorialize 9/11.

So, on October 6, he introduced an MSA proposal to asking the university to institute a "moment of recognition" during the mornings of all future September 11ths.

The resolution in no way referred to Islam or to whether Islam itself is to blame for global terrorism. It did not require anyone to contemplate the fact that the terrorists responsible for 9/11 were Muslims. "It merely stated that 9/11 has had a lasting effect on many students, and ought to be reflected upon for a single moment, once a year."

But according to the Minnesota Republic, the resolution proved oddly controversial. MSA Director of Diversity and Inclusion, David Algadi, voiced "severe criticism" of the resolution.

Algadi was not the only one with this opinion. A majority of student government representatives sided with him, voting down the resolution in a 36-23 vote this month. If students had their way, there would be no moment of silence at UMN on Sept. 11, 2016.

But after the university became "inundated" with demands for a rebuke of the vote, UMN President Eric Kaler announced that he would formalize the moment of silence anyway. Kaler told the local press that he "wanted to make sure folks were aware that the U is committed to honoring the victims."

Dear God! Is the bottom picture of one of the jumpers from the tower? This is the first time I have ever seen a pic from that. Everything was censored.

Humans are basically bags of meat. What do you think would happen if you jumped or were blown out of a building 110 stories high? They said it took about 10 seconds to go from a living human being to a pile of blood, offal and clothing. There were about 200 such poor souls. Some of the jumpers had no human features left whatsoever, just puddles of gore.

These pathetic college morons should be made to bury their faces in the remains of people who had to leap from a burning building caused by Muslim slime, or the incinerated remains of those who never made it outside in any form. Or talk to their grieving families. I curse their stupidity.

Ditto...I've seen plenty of 9/11 coverage, but NEVER saw a picture of a body after impact...until now.

Where does the line form to kick the living daylights out of these college punks who couldn't be bothered with a moment of silence?

Sounds like the student council is about as faithful in representing the student body as our congressional reps.

“Dave Algadi needs an ass kicking.”

He needs a pink slip. One variety of which would likely please him. Congrats to the U prez who overturned the student government’s vote. But that the prez of Mizzou had stood up to his students/football team.

The taxpayers of MN are funding that school. Same for Mizzou. In both cases, they should let the governors and state legislators know that these students’ demands will not be met so long as those taxpayers are paying for their education. Tuition doesn’t begin to cover the costs.

Yes, they are brain damaged. But from inbreeding, not indoctrination.

Google Moslem IQ. They’re hovering in the 80s.

This makes them perfect subjects for indoctrination.

"Students at the University of Minnesota killed a proposed moment of silence for 9/11 victims due to concerns that Muslim students would be offended."

These wussie students don't have the slightest clue what's "offensive".

I graduated along with a friend, Keith Christophersen from "the U" as it was called, (because every one knew it was Minnesota) in 1968. It was the time of the Tet offensive in Vietnam, and Keith enlisted in the navy. He was on the last plane to be shot down in the Vietnam War. He left behind a wife and two kids. Now THAT is offensive. His name is on the last panel of the Vietnam War Memorial (Panel W1, Line 111).

I remember memorials where students at the U read ALL 57,159 names of these heroes, with reverence. It took three days. It's helpful that President Eric Kaler overruled the wusses and sponsored the moment of silence. It restored my faith, a little, in a once great institution.

The president of the university is ERIC W. KALER

Email: upres@umn.edu
Phone: 612-626-1616

His students need to be horse whipped. His director of diversity needs to be sent to some place in the middle east.

What more do we need to know about a Muslim who finds a moment of silence for those killed on 9/11 *offensive* and not to be allowed.

The religion of peace finds a moment of silence offensive?

Think about who is the most important person in the world to you. Think how you would feel if that person stood at the window of the 80th floor, not wanting to jump but not wanting to burn to death.

These spoiled brats don’t want a moment of silence for them? I hope they stay working at Starbucks for the next 20 years.

To: who knows what evil?

The only one closest was on live coverage on PMSNBC where a couple took a video of it live and showed it on air, and the crew forgot to edit it out. The image of a body afar but with blood splatter around it. They reaired the couple’s video but this time there was no body.

Honoring 9/11 victims would not be offensive to Muslims who are against terrorism.

The offended are Muslims who support terrorism.

The Muslims are alive. The victims aren’t. Following Islam to the letter inspired 9/11. Who cares if Muslims are offended. They probably cheered when 9/11 occurred.
