GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump says he does not know the disabled New York Times reporter he is accused of mocking.
"I have no idea who this reporter, Serge Kovaleski is, what he looks like or his level of intelligence," Trump said in a statement posted on Twitter on Thursday. "I don't know if he's J.J. Watt or Muhammad Ali in his prime--or somebody of less athletic or physical ability."
Trump cited an article written by Kovaleski in 2001, when he wrote for The Washington Post, that appeared to corroborate the businessman's story of seeing Arab-Americans in New Jersey celebrating as the World Trade Center towers came down.
After Kovaleski, who suffers from a chronic condition that impairs the movement of his arms, went on CNN to renounce the report, Trump appeared to mimic the journalist on stage at a South Carolina rally.
"Now the poor guy, you gotta see this guy: 'Uhh, I don't know what I said. I don't remember.' He's going, 'I don't remember. Maybe that's what I said,' " Trump said at the rally, flailing his arms as he imitated Kovaleski. "That was 14 years ago--they didn't issue a retraction."
The New York Times said it is "outrageous" that Trump would "ridicule the appearance of one of our reporters."
But Trump now claims that he has no idea what Kovaleski looks like.

Not liking how he made fun of the crippled guy. That was OK in fourth grade. Well, it wasn’t OK then. But fourth graders might not know better.

I find it outrageous that the New York times would continue to employ somebody who they believe published an untrue vicious racist smear.
Of course, if you are a true Trump supporter, this won’t make a difference.
Myself...I know there are no heroes and am watching how things unfold. I don’t have to make a decision until March...and hopefully there will be a decent choice left by then.

Nice try birdie, but I’m not seeing this as making fun of a person’s disability. It instead looks like Trump is making fun of this reporter trying to disown what he previously reported. I also noted that this video showed Trump making his comments twice. This must have been for affect...right?

Trump has mocked many of his opponents using this move in the past, months before mocking the disabled reporter.
This is something that both the media and the TDSers will refuse to acknowledge in their feigned hysteria.
At the end of the day, this is not going to matter much. Those that love Trump will continue to love him. Those looney leftists that hate Trump will continue to hate him.
His polling numbers will continue to stay where they are.

I agree with that after looking at the video a few times. I have been on a number of juries over the years and if this was a court case I would vote not guilty.
One of the telling pieces of evidence is the nyt had to use on freeze frame on only one hand to make their case. In the video he is gesticulating with both arms and hands at the same time, not just the right hand. This story is a total fabrication.
I don’t care if he mocked him or not.....Liberals have been mocking conservatives forever and never getting called on it, I say it’s about time someone on our side gave it right back to them.
Show us a video where Trump acts like that (previous to this escapade)
