Obama: Syrian refugees are like pilgrims on the Mayflower

This Thanksgiving, President Obama is calling for Americans to lend a helping hand to another group of pilgrims fleeing persecution.

"Nearly four centuries after the Mayflower set sail, the world is still full of pilgrims - men and women who want nothing more than the chance for a safer, better future for themselves and their families," Obama said in his weekly address Thursday. "What makes America America is that we offer that chance."

While they were travelling here, they were a lot like the Syrian refuguees (those that actually ARE refugees, and not all are).

The difference between the two is what they did after they landed. The pilgrims built a settlement in a wilderness, had some bad times, recovered, and thrived. The worked with the locals and didn’t seek to enslave them. They built a place for other people to come and make a great nation.

The Syrians come to take what others have built and created. They destroy. They infect. Most of all, they harbor dangerous people who have only come to hurt and kill.

Well there’s is some inadvertent truth to what he’s saying. Like the European vs the Indians, it’s a clash of cultures, and like the European vs the Indians, the muslims want to subjugate and rule over us.

The question then is are we going to let them do to us what we did to the Indians?
