You obviously haven’t been following this closely.

I think the whole thing is just red man. We are never going to know what really happened, this will be washed down to whatever they want it to look like... both sides.

I would, however, expect to see the Russians running the Turk border constantly now, just itching to draw someone across. It's what they do.

One this is for certain, hate the conniving bastard, but I'd say Putin has some retaliation points awarded. It's one thing to down a plane for reasons you may think are justified... but then to snuff pilots on chutes? That's just out of line man.

You crip,
I did the math at about 400 mph.
About 25 to 30second max. Not enough time to confirm an id, get permission and shoot; let alone a good warning.

I don't see how Putin lets Turkey get away with this. Stay tuned.

Turkey may have just created a Russian-backed Kurdistan by shooting down the Russian jet. If the Kurds are willing to fight, the Russians might yet give them the nation they’ve been pushing for. A couple of billion dollars a year and state-of-the-art SAM’s in PKK hands would give the Turks endless headaches.

What’s more: They could have gotten a lot or propoganda material by grabbing the Russkie pilots and parading them around for show. Make no sense off-ing the guys - unless you want to make sure they never get a chance to talk.

My guess: the plane was tailed within Syria airspace. The order to take it down was probably made before the attack plane even saw it radar or even got off the ground.

Now the story starts to change...As I said in an earlier posting, both sides know more than we the public do. Also there is considerable satellite surveillance of the area by everyone particularly since the airliner downing.

That would be real common. Many planes hit over North Vietnam boogied for Laos or the gulf after being hit to enhance their crews possibility of rescue. Some made it all the way to Thailand.

Yes, this is the top and bottom of it. According to other reports I've read, the incursion into Turkish airspace lasted "seconds". They key point is that the shoot-down occurred outside Turkish airspace over Syria. This is why Putin is livid and why there will be incoming for Erdogan and his ISIS-loving regime.

Russia help Kurds carve out a country, inclusive of Kurdish areas in Turkey. Sounds very reasonable, especially considering that the US has failed the Kurds. Blame it on Obama.

There’s no way they were in Turkish airspace for anything like 10 minutes. The tip of Turkish land/airspace the Turks are showing the aircraft crossed is not even 5 miles wide. At 500mph, that SU-24 would have crossed it in 36s, less than a minute.

No, this was pretty clearly the Turks saber-rattling, and it’s the reason NATO is not really backing the Turks, asking them why they didn’t just escort the jets out.

BTW, are you aware the Turks frequently violate Greek airspace? Why, you may ask?

Because the Turks hate the Christian Greeks, they can, and are *holes.

We really need to exit the base at Incirlik. Nothing good can come of staying there.

After this the Russian strike bombers will probably get fighter escorts.

I do not know that. They were warned to move. Yes, we have RADAR in Turkey.

I actually used the ruler feature on google maps and it is less than 1.5 miles wide.

Get this right folks, I would never, ever support shooting pilots in regress.

I am just saying that the Ruskies were pushing it.

I don’t know if the pilots are deceased but if they were shot coming down, these folks are getting close to glass.

Mecca, be warned.
