The United States believes Russia's incursion into Turkish airspace on Tuesday likely lasted only a matter of seconds before Turkey shot down a Russian warplane, a U.S. official said, saying the assessment was based on preliminary indications.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the United States was still investigating the incident.

How does Turkey warn them “Ten Times” in 17 seconds?

The story keeps changing by the minute.

Mexican soldiers violate our borders quite often.

We haven’t shot them down or killed them

Obama is essentially saying Turkey was right to shoot foreigners who crossed their border without permission, which implicitly means that protecting borders is important. I wonder why Americans do not have that right too.

Hulka, why is the Sukhoi’s wreckage on the ground in Syria? Why isn’t it in Turkey?

Now if only a member of our esteemed media would ask that quite logical question.

I’m wondering if it was a Turkish pilot in that F16.

Yes, but you have to be careful about how literally that is taken or the next Turkish or US jet that crosses into Syrian airspace without permission can also be shot down.

The Turkish fighters had to have been shadowing the Sukhois. Did THEY VIOLATE SYRIAN AIRSPACE?

Why haven’t any of these blathering presstitute mouthpieces ask THAT question?

If a Russian warcraft violated our border for a second, we better have shot it down.

Putin just agreed to help Iran with its nuclear program.

Russia formally eases ban on nuclear technology exports to Iran

.

Whether Russia has been repeatedly violating Turkish airspace or not, the Turks were looking for this opportunity and when it presented itself they took it.

Clearly.

So what's Turkey's goal ?

Replace Iran as the "Caliphate Capital" ?

Drag NATO into a "losing" war with The Russian Bear ?

Putin will understandably laugh at anything Turkey threatens it with.

Putin's "global strategic problem" is his SERIOUS "loss of face" here ... especially after successfully kicking ISIS's ass .... and Obama's ... for the last three weeks ...

Qui Bono ?

Any suggestions ?

A Bridge too Far ... besides, the Soviets are monitoring all comms in the region ... so an American flyer would have been identified as such ...

Yes. They are establishing a no fly zone close to their border so Obama can continue to funnel arms to ISIS and Turkey can make money on ISIS oil.

So, you are just fine with China splashing all US military warcraft that violate their borders. Perhaps a nice SSM blowing one of our gray fleet to razorblades when it gets too close as well.

Hold on, cause this will happen next

So you are k with a nuclear armed russian warcraft cruising in American airspace for 30 seconds? You wouldn’t shoot it down? That is very very strange indeed.

Turkey will regret this stupidity.

They too are flying sorties over Syria, a violation of Syrian airspace, therefore, Syria & it allies have every right to shoot down Turkish aircraft.

Russian fighters will now surely be flying CAP over Syria, plus Putin could install multiple S-300 AA systems in Syria, denying the airspace to Turkey & the US, extending Russian AA defense to deep within Turkish territory. If Russia so chooses, no Turkish plane would be safe within 100 miles of its own southern border. Russia could easily create a no-fly zone over Syria/Iraq.

I doubt Obama & NATO will back Turkey in an air war with Syria/Russia/Iran. Obama is a coward & NATO is nothing without the US. Turkey committed the first aggression, giving it no moral authority to beg for assistance.

On the plus side, if Russia spanks Turkey hard, shooting down its planes & destroying its air defense radars near Syria, Erdogan’s government is over. Good riddance.

So, Turkey’s stupidity could well see it in a war with Russia/Syria/Iran, lose its NATO membership, & its government collapses. It couldn’t happen to a bigger, more deserving fool than Recep Erdogan.
