Columbus, Ohio (CNN)Donald Trump said Monday that he witnessed people jumping out of the Twin Towers on 9/11 from the view in his apartment.
"Many people jumped and I witnessed it, I watched that. I have a view -- a view in my apartment that was specifically aimed at the World Trade Center," Trump said Monday during a rally in Columbus, Ohio.
"And I watched those people jump and I watched the second plane hit ... I saw the second plane hit the building and I said, 'Wow that's unbelievable,'" Trump continued.
At least 200 people are believed to have jumped from the Twin Towers after planes struck the towers in an attack that claimed more than 2,600 lives.
The Republican presidential contender lives in Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan, more than four miles away from where the World Trade Center towers once stood. Trump has lived in the 5th Avenue tower since before the attacks, according to media reports pre-dating 9/11.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment asking how Trump witnessed people jumping out of the Twin Towers from more than four miles away.
Trump on Monday also dug into his claim that Muslims in New Jersey celebrated the terrorist attacks on 9/11, a claim that has been widely debunked by multiple fact-checkers.

Seems to me that a body falling from that height, with the tremendous velocity would be detectable from miles away.
They knew they wouldn't survive. They were jumping to escape the heat.
We know for a fact you can see a light at night, the smallest light, from tens of miles away when at night with no lights around.
He saw movement, that is what the eye catches, and dropping bodies fall a lot different than debris and paper. Of course, it doesn’t take much to say, wow, those are bodies falling.

Maybe you should take a trip to Trump Tower in NYC to get an idea of what can be seen from its 68th floor penthouse? If only you could be invited.
Alas, there are alternatives. NYC has a LOT of really, really tall buildings from which one can see for miles and miles. I think in this regard you are fairly clueless, as is CNN’s Mr. Diamond.
Does it matter if he saw them jumping from his window or from the tv? Trump shifts years a lot when he talks.... Big deal.
From Trump Tower to the North Tower WTC it is 4.016 miles.
You eye sight is not very good. I used to be able to see Seagulls sitting on piers a half mile away. I can easily see port and starboard lights on ships and planes miles away. You should get your eyes checked.
It was just the right conditions.
Early in the morning about 8:30, deep dark blue sky, we were SE from the balloons so we were looking to the NW.
We were just watching the balloons and noticed one looked like it was about to hit the basket of the other balloon so we were concentrated on the balloon when it did hit and all you could see was just a speck falling through the air.
We didn’t find out until later that what we saw falling was a person.
I saw the muslim celebrations on tv...I do not understand why people keep saying it did not happen.
The networks were also broadcasting it live as it happened.
ALL of America could see it live.

Trump Tower is 664' tall.
If the view was unobstructed then I believe he could see it with his scope.
This is a very sad attempt to slander Trump.
