Newsmax ^ | Tuesday, 24 Nov 2015 | Sandy Fitzgerald

Ted Cruz on Wednesday edged into a virtual tie with GOP front-runner Donald Trump in a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday for the state of Iowa, with Trump retaining a narrow lead of 25 percent of the vote, followed by Cruz with 23 percent, doubling his support from four weeks ago.

By the numbers:

The Quinnipiac Poll was conducted between Nov. 16-22 of 600 likely Iowa Republican Caucus participants, and carried a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points. In addition, 58 percent of the voters said they might still change their minds.

...

Meanwhile, Carson received the top favorability rating, at 79-15 percent, followed by 73-15 percent for Cruz, 70-18 percent for Rubio, and 59-34 percent for Trump.

....

Meanwhile, just five percent said they would not support Cruz, who got the best numbers in that category:
The voters said the economy and jobs are the most important issues determining who will get their vote, 24 percent of the voters said, followed by 15 percent on terrorism and foreign policy, 11 percent on the federal deficit, and 10 percent for immigration.

...

Cruz, though, was deemed best on foreign policy by 24 percent, followed by 18 percent for Trump, 15 percent for Rubio, and 8 percent for Bush. Carson and Paul each had six percent.

Don’t try to throw someone else’s opinion on my shoulders. Won’t work and is a flimsy remark.

Baloney!!!!!......You made a broad brush statement about Cruz supporters. I provided a specific one to the opposite.

Typical Trumpet deflection.

To even it all out, there has to be at least 2-3 months of intense Cruz bashing and then we can all shut up and enjoy what we have done.

Jeb will fix it. /sarc

Read my posts a few days ago, and talk to the other Trump supporters that I have talked to.

I stated, that BOTH sides, the Trump supporters and the Ted Cruz supporters need to stop it.

Fair enough ?

The Trump supporters I have talked to the other day about this have been very kind and polite, and agreed.

re you upset because I told the Trump supporters that us Ted Cruz supporters will take notes and take names and show the Trump supporters of real examples of Trump supporters trash talking, trolling the Ted Cruz threads when they deny it ?

The Trump supporters can not deny it.

That was the whole point that I was trying to make a few days ago.

Both sides need to stop it, fair enough ?
............................................................
So far on this thread the trash talking has been overwhelmingly done by the Cruz supporters. Fair Enough evaluation? I don’t get upset, I get even! Fair enough?

AND since when is this a Ted Cruz thread? Seems to me the title of the thread is: “Cruz, Trump in Virtual Tie in Iowa.” I’d say this is a split thread if there is such a thing as “exclusivity” allowed in threads. I read what interests me and I will not be dictated to about what I am permitted to read. Like it or lump it, I really don’t care, nor will I be intimidated.

I don’t deny that it was happening or is happening now.

I’ll be the first to tell you personally I am guilty as charged....

The basic point that I was trying to make the other day was ?

When ever the Ted Cduz supporters are trying to point out that they ( The TRUMP supporters ) are just as much involved as the Ted Cruz supporters are , and just as guilty, some have denied that it is actually happening.

Would you at least agree that both sides need to stop it ?

Fair enough ?

What specific foreign policy questions, if any, was Trump asked in those debates?

While the others discussed their views and visions of foreign policy, especially during Debate #2, Trump stood silently.

One question he fielded on the subject centered on how he would deal with the problem of the Russians in Syria. Trump said, "I would get along with a lot of the world leaders that this country is not getting along with.”

Deep... very deep... Unmatched brilliance. /s

I think all Americans go along with controlled, legal immigration. So what makes Trump different? Because he hasn’t given specific numbers is what you are demanding. That is a rather poor excuse to stand against him. Show me any other candidate’s “numbers.”

He has pledged to build a wall to preserve our SOVEREIGNTY as a nation. People USED TO obey the laws on the books. The current course in Washington is to destroy the Constitution and IGNORE any and all laws that fly in the face of Obama’s America destroying Agenda.

I’m not projecting ANYTHING into Trump. I am making a very sound and logical assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of each and every candidate. ALL things are NOT EQUAL. Gross inadequacies on certain things are more important than unimportant blemishes on others. I do my own screening and analysis and I’m not about to support a candidate because somebody else said I should. I’m too educated and independent for that.

The News article and title does have Ted Cruz’s name in it and does have information about Ted Cruz, so it is technically a Ted Cruz thread.

The point being I was made aware by the Trump supporters that the Ted Cruz supporters troll the Trump threads, I am not denying that.

The point I was trying to make is that a some of the Trump supporters were denying that the same thing is happening with the Trump supporters.

Typical Trumpet deflection.
.............................................
Your snide use of the word “Trumpet” to describe a Trump supporter says it all. You just condemned yourself.

Go to his site if you want to read and absorb the “details.” He has given far more and far more frequently than any other candidate. You just need to be listening nd maybe you’ll hear.

That's all fine, because his staff will do a good job putting that together for him... but he can't articulate well on the subject in a forum or debate setting.

Ted Cruz has stood hard for securing the border long before Trump bellowed his way onto the campaign stage.

...And almost no one paid any attention to him doing so. Practically overnight Trump made securing the border the number one issue in this election cycle thus far. I had thought with the "Dreamers" and Obama's executive orders and all, we had already lost this issue (a loss which will cause the end of the Republican Party--or at least push it far more to the left--because of demographic shifts).

I almost still can't believe how drastically he's has shifted the national discourse on this issue in the face of ridicule and constant, horrified attacks. I would never have even considered it possible for a US candidate to shake up what is acceptable to say and openly believe as much as Trump has. The Left is positively apoplectic about him.

He's already been so much more successful than Cruz at popularizing the idea of stopping illegal immigration cold that I have no doubt he would be far more likely to actually accomplish this goal, even with massive opposition and protests.

Would it be fair to say then ?

That when the Trump supporters make a claim that the Ted Cruz supporters do go to Trump threads trash talking , rude, personal insults, that before they accuse the Ted Cruz supporters of doing it, that the TRUMP supporters should look at them selves first ?

Would that be a fair statement ?

I don’t deny that it’s happening amoung the Ted Cruz supporters.

Uh no, because you would be denying that you are a real offender. Perhaps you should take a look at yourselves. Most of us have said we would vote for Cruz, but that is not reciprocated. Hence the source of the animosity.

All this will come out in the wash. May end up good, or maybe we will all be upset.

Who knows?

The News article and title does have Ted Cruz’s name in it and does have information about Ted Cruz, so it is technically a Ted Cruz thread.
.........................................................
Technically? Technically Ted Cruz thread because it has his name in the title, you say. Well, I can read and I clearly see TRUMP in the title and comparisons in the body of the work. So just HOW does that make it a Ted Cruz thread?

It is just such nit picking that removes all credibility from one’s arguments. Get serious about the issues that matter.

Besides, where does exclusivity on a thread benefit anyone? It is totally AGAINST freedom of speech and what is my understanding FREE REPUBLIC stands for. Free means someone’s dissension is of equal weight with other statements. Everyone is allowed his two cents worth. Republic is a form of government in which the CITIZENS’ Voices rule. If one is limited to where and when one can speak, where is the freedom and where is the republican value upheld?

Besides who cares? People can call me names and I ignore them. If someone brings a valid argument to the table I will listen. I may not agree and that is my right. But don’t tell me I can’t disagree because some thread is declared by some to be the EXCLUSIVE territory of one candidate.THAT is an invalid argument.

Being a billionaire has nothing to do with it. Currently the best way to determine how someone thinks and first reacts to events is to have a look at their twitter posts over the last few years. Trump's twitter posts from long before he run and after he run give you a measure of the utter lack of depth in his thinking. It's chock full of petty insults, abuse, put downs, idiotic garbage of all kinds. Do a web search of Trump and Kim Novak. And his vocabulary for insults seem too be severely limited. Typically, he calls everyone he doesn't like a “total loser”. He basically shoots from the hip before thinking.

I really don’t get the hatred a lot of Cruz supporters on this site seem to have for Trump. Their candidate said he’s a “fan of Donald Trump.” Cruz asked Trump for a meeting with him at Trump Tower. Cruz has leapt to defend Trump at the debates. They have a lot in common in regard to their key policies. They seem to genuinely like each other, and there is a high likelihood that Cruz is in the top spot on Trump’s potential VP list.

It seems very strange to me to see this sort of loathing under these circumstances. Cruz would disapprove of what some of his followers are doing. One doesn’t have to trash Trump to show support for Cruz.

Trump is ahead now, enjoying his brief place in the sun. Once Carson, Rubio, Fiorina, et al, drop out, all their shares of voters will go to Cruz. Trump will be toast. But will his ego let him get behind Cruz? Or will Trump go third party and Perot the 2016 election?
