Newsmax ^ | Tuesday, 24 Nov 2015 | Sandy Fitzgerald

Ted Cruz on Wednesday edged into a virtual tie with GOP front-runner Donald Trump in a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday for the state of Iowa, with Trump retaining a narrow lead of 25 percent of the vote, followed by Cruz with 23 percent, doubling his support from four weeks ago.

By the numbers:

The Quinnipiac Poll was conducted between Nov. 16-22 of 600 likely Iowa Republican Caucus participants, and carried a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points. In addition, 58 percent of the voters said they might still change their minds.

...

Meanwhile, Carson received the top favorability rating, at 79-15 percent, followed by 73-15 percent for Cruz, 70-18 percent for Rubio, and 59-34 percent for Trump.

....

Meanwhile, just five percent said they would not support Cruz, who got the best numbers in that category:
The voters said the economy and jobs are the most important issues determining who will get their vote, 24 percent of the voters said, followed by 15 percent on terrorism and foreign policy, 11 percent on the federal deficit, and 10 percent for immigration.

...

Cruz, though, was deemed best on foreign policy by 24 percent, followed by 18 percent for Trump, 15 percent for Rubio, and 8 percent for Bush. Carson and Paul each had six percent.

Deep thought and Donald Trump are like night and day. This is a guy that fires from the hip with his mouth 24 hours before he actually thinks about anything.

I have been attacked continuously.
........................................................

I’ve noticed that....and so have I as well as many other Trump supporters. Mostly, they’re not reasonable criticisms but are potty-mouthed kindergarten-mentality slurs. Consider the source and ignore them because it is obvious they are very short of brain cells.

Like the Trumpet last week who claimed all Freeper Cruz supporters were going to defect to Sanders? Yeah, that was "reasonable".

could never vote for M. Rubio. He cannot even handle his simple personal finances and one of his donors hired his wife, who has no experience, as consultant or adviser to his foundation, to help him pay his bills. He is for amnesty. It is one thing to flip-flop, but he was actively involved to push amnesty with all of his might.
...........................................
You are absolutely correct. AND he sold out those of us who put him in office through our hard campaigning. We will NEVER forgive him for his treason. GOPe controls him and he is dangerously arrogant for a weak individual.

And just who are you to designate the threads I can read and comment on? Is FREERepublic divided into little crackerboxes with each one apportioned according to his allowed number of constituents? I don’t think so. Free means Open to conversation and dissension, not a guarantee of a certain piece of ground where one can play “safe.”

I don’t “Troll.” I read and comment on a wide variety of threads and I don’t suffer lightly those who would try to dictate what I read and don’t read, nor should any one else on this site.

...And then relies on his followers to issue the standard WDRM (What Donald Really Meant) spin.

Cruz has been in the Senate for 2.5 years with most of that time under Harry Reid and all of it with Obama in the White House. Tell me... what do you exactly think he COULD have done?
....................................................
Get more of his fellow Republicans to stand with him! If he is a leader, he should be able to accomplish that. Compare his ability to garner support compared to Trump’s tens of thousands of supporters who turn out in numbing heat, rain, wind, freezing cold, and every other possible discomfort just to hear him speak.....when they could just sit home and watch him on a live feed. The American people are fed up with politics as usual. They want and DEMAND something different and are willing to bet on an outsider to accomplish a big turnaround in this country.
Cruz has possibilities in the future, but for now, he is not strong enough to lead.

Are you upset because I told the Trump supporters that us Ted Cruz supporters will take notes and take names and show the Trump supporters of real examples of Trump supporters trash talking, trolling the Ted Cruz threads when they deny it ?

The Trump supporters can not deny it.

That was the whole point that I was trying to make a few days ago.

Both sides need to stop it, fair enough ?

Trump would never go along with the open border policy and importation of MORE foreign workers to the detriment of Americans.

You're just projecting what you want into Trump. He's said repeatedly he is for legal immigration, even for bringing back any "good" current illegals after they're deported. While I don't know what his web site policy page says, and he doesn't seem to either, he has never said out loud to my knowledge whether he wants to raise or lower legal immigration or keep it the same.

Trump has said out loud often that he wants more legal immigration for foreign students who do well in our schools. He said he doesn’t want them to go back to their home countries.

LMAO!! As if standing against Obamacare to the point of absorbing the accusation of “shutting down the government” wasn’t enough on the man’s agenda.

No one has been more on the forefront in the Senate to stem the illegal invasion than Ted Cruz.

That's cute.

Can you remember one single input of actual substance from Trump on the subject of foreign policy during the 2nd and 3rd debates? Not just spew and spittle, but actual specific discussion matter that included at least a modicum of detail?

Trump had 14,000 in Ohio last night.

What specific foreign policy questions, if any, was Trump asked in those debates?

Exactly what has Trump done so far to secure any wall? A BIG FAT NOTHNG. ZERO!ZILCH!
All he has done is TALK about doing something. Talk is cheap, especially from a guy that supported Obama’s illegal, unconstitutional Dream Act which gave amnesty to an estimated 2.5 million illegals.
....................................................
Trump is not in office YET! When he is elected, the first thing you will see will be a WALL! A great big beautiful wall....and Mexico will pay for it.

We’ll see what the court says about dreamers and DACA. Time will tell.

Don’t try to throw someone else’s opinion on my shoulders. Won’t work and is a flimsy remark.
