Ten bucks says the Russians won’t do a damn thing. Even if it were better for Turkey not to shoot the jet down, the Russians will have no international support if they press this issue with Turkey. Any sovereign nation in the world could see themselves doing the exact same thing Turkey did if they were in a similar position.

Yep....

Turkey is acting as ISIS/Al-Qaeda Air Force, and well I guess they want a war with Russia?

Turkey is supporting Al-Qaeda/ISIS by being their Air Force.

F*ck Turkey!

They are with the terrorist that attacked us on September 11th, 2001.

Correct, there is nothing really that Russia can do about it.

They will file diplomatic protests, etc, but there is nothing militarily they can do against Turkey.

Again Turkey started it by defending the Terrorist ISIS

One pilot killed by militants after parachuting to the ground. Fate of the second pilot unknown. Who was Turkey trying to protect? What high value target?

I disagree with you sir. See “The Crimean War”. Both sides have long memories.

Even if we did not have (thanks to the Democrats and a toaster oven IQ electorate) a Sunni Muslim CIC, we are under treaty obligation to defend NATO “ally” Turkey if they’re attacked.

You appear correct. Russian plane was allegedly in Turk airspace for 2km. At the speed the jet goes, it would've been out in 9 seconds.

The decision to shoot down the plane was a massive overreaction.

Turkey is supporting Al-Qaeda/ISIS by being their Air Force.

Here is the problem with that...

Turkey = NATO

So, you statement is actually:

TurkeyNATO is supporting Al-Qaeda/ISIS by being their Air Force.

NATO = USA

So, then statement becomes:

Turkey NATOThe United States is supporting Al-Qaeda/ISIS by being their Air Force.

Because from a military perspective, the United States is forced to honor its NATO Treaty--an attack on one is an attack on all.

I'm not advocating a war at all. Cooler heads need to prevail to avoid it. Striking at Turkey cannot be an option for Russia, anymore than us striking at Russia is in any way an option.

What a mess!

What about Turkey abandoning us and not letting us invade Iraq from the north back in 2003?

Time for a little pay back.

"They [the pilots] were fulfilling their task," the president stressed

Same could be said about the Turkish F-16 pilots.

American weapon superiority. Nobody is speaking about that. lol

Okay, keep an eye on it - but I will bet you there is no military response from Russia. Also NATO will support Turkey as Turkey/NATO have already been protesting Russian overflights of Turkish territory. Russia thought it could keep getting away with it, and the Turkish called their bluff.

BTW, if Turkey really wanted to they could fly significant sorties into Syria and degrade/destroy enough Russian planes and equipment that Russia would be forced to leave.

Turkey is a NATO member.

Perhaps is some kind of trigger Obama (or those pulling his strings) has been looking for?

NATO should have been disbanded at the end of the cold war and replaced with a few key bilateral agreements with Germany and the UK. The fact NATO is on a trigger with such stalwarts as Albania and Turkey makes it very dangerous indeed.

Either the treaty obligates us or it doesn’t. Failure to follow the treaty has much greater consequences than payback for Turkey. Personally, I think NATO needs to throw out an Islamic Turkey, or at least encourage the generals to once more be Ataturk’s standard bearers, but that is a diplomatic process, not a political one.

I think the USA and Russia should meet immediately to prevent even one more incident. Perhaps by creating some operational air power center like we did in Bosnia during IFOR. I served in that. We had Russian and USAF personnel working together then.

You are correct! But if the Turks start harassing Russian ships through the Dardanelles it’s Crimean War Part Deux!

Yes, what I have read and watched agrees with you. It also appears US is/was working with terrorists in Syria and possibly now in Iraq. Judicial Watch released copies of US Gov documents via FOIA this year...yielding more pieces of the puzzle.

Short CBS video video (recent) mentioning the Muslim Brotherhood as a major player against Assad in Syria (now part of ISIS/ISIL):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1aDciHCejA

Breitbart report on Muslim Brotherhood at White House:

http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2015/02/07/the-muslim-brotherhood-comes-to-the-white-house/

Article connecting US State Department to Muslim Brotherhood support:

http://shoebat.com/2015/10/26/new-evidence-reveals-hillary-clinton-worked-with-the-muslim-brotherhood-causing-the-murder-americans-in-benghazi-hilary-clinton-has-left-a-huge-trail-of-blood-and-she-is-proud-of-it/

So, unfortunately, it appears USA is/was also working with known terrorists in Syria and likely also in Iraq. Maybe this is why this Administration was not focusing our military capability to defeat ISIS this past year or so. And why the Intelligence documents were doctored/changed to not show that ISIS as bad as it is in reality.
