Delaware State Police Caught on Video Raiding Home, Killing Dog

Wearing full military gear and wielding high-powered rifles, Delaware state police broke into a home Friday, shooting and killing a dog who was running from them in fear.

The entry was captured on Mark Reedy’s security camera, who says police were looking for guns, but the shooting takes place off-frame.

The video shows the dog running up to the door as they are trying to break in, yelling “state police … search warrant.”

The dog is barking and it’s tail is wagging but as soon as it sees a giant shield enter the home with a gun pointing from behind it, the dog runs away.

Then at least ten cops enter the home, pointing weapons and yelling about a search warrant.

Because the police are ninja wannabes who don’t give a tinker’s damn about your so called rights.

I suppose returning when someone is home is out of the question.

Police have never done that. I'm not justifying shooting his dog, but when cops have a warrant they're authorized to search the premises whether anyone is there or not, and it's unrealistic to expect them to wait for someone to show up. In fact it's safer for all (well, except the dog) if they don't.

Like I said, why were police searching for guns in the first place? Is he a felon or what?

That is a remarkable story about the car crashing into the store.
The motorist was very likely completely drunk out of his gourd when he lost control and struck the building.
Good on you for similarly seeking to do the "right thing" and also getting a heaping dollop of mistrust and disrespect from responding police officers.

“But, this way they can play ninja special forces SEAL commando.”

And it works better than Viagra

“If they have a warrant, why don’t they knock on the door, wait for the home owner to answer and show it to him?”

Then they wouldn’t get to play Rambo...

So if police have the wrong address, incorrect information, or any number of mistakes you are fine with them smashing down doors all willy-nilly? No thanks.

It’s amazing that we had law enforcement from the colonial times to not so very long ago without the police acting like Stalinist storm troopers. We’re in more danger from these donut-eating dog shooters than terrorists. At least I can shoot a non-governmental terrorist in self-defense without getting charged with some phony “offense”.

I’m so damned tired of seeing a group of over armed Gestapo troops killing dogs for NO Reason. These Macho fools could have used non-lethal means to take care of a dog who was protecting his home.

When will these Gestapo troops start breaking into homes and start killing innocent civilians?Soon I fear.

Do you know what reason they had to seize his guns?

They must have been worried that he was going to flush the guns down the toilet.

” It was a surreal and life-changing experience. I will never, ever willingly help another police officer again in my life.”

There are very few situations in this life that cannot be made worse, by the addition of the police.

I never said that. You really need to stop using false choice arguments. There's something between police acting like storm troopers and never entering a premise until the residents open their door and invite them in. In this case there's nothing to indicate it was a wrong address. It also doesn't say why they were "searching for guns". I will say cops should be prepared to subdue dogs without shooting them. Except for pitbulls, which they can shoot on sight as far as I'm concerned.

My. Are smashed through a store window o central while I was in the store. We couldn’t figure out how it happened because I was parked on a small hill, but sideways. The cop came and asked around if anybody saw anything, but didn’t give me a ticket because I wasn’t in the car. I just paid the store owner for the damage.

What isn't explained is why they were raiding his home for guns in the first place.

It could be something like a routine divorce proceeding but also the Delaware governor (D) just signed a new law, SB 83, that has the JBTs confiscate any guns after an accusation of misdemeanor domestic violence. If a Delaware resident is accused of something as minor as a bad first date, the raid is on.

I actually designed my house to not be able to be subject to a no-knock raid.

I won’t go into details, but it would take a tank, assuming they could get it up the mountain where I live.

I began to walk towards the cruisers as they rolled-up and received the crazed "GET THE FU*K BACK INTO YOUR VEHICLE, NOW!" command as they exited.

No excuse for the attitude, but cops have been set up on enough occasions, sometimes killed, that they don't trust anyone.
