Harry Smith Quotes Scripture to Counter Republicans on Refugees
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

I turned on MSNBC this morning in the admittedly masochistic hope of seeing Melissa Harris-Perry, only to find Harry Smith--of all people--hosting continuing coverage of the Paris attacks and related issues.

After running clips of Ted Cruz, Ben Carson and Mike Huckabee questioning the admittance into the US of Syrian refugees, Smith immediately displayed on screen and read the passage of Matthew 25 that begins "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat . . . I was a stranger and you invited me in," etc. Smith then turned to the Rev. Jacqui Lewis, pastor of the hyper-liberal Middle Collegiate Church in NYC's East Village, and asked this hyper-leading question: "is this as important a piece of the New Testament as exists?" Surprise! Lewis agreed that it "absolutely" is.

So what? Satan quotes Scripture also. While I would be hesitant to call Harry Smith Satan, in no way, form, or fashion would I infer that Satan is Harry Smith. Satan has standards, morals[low] and a few principles. In my opinion, Harry Smith has none of the aforementioned.

Of course.

That’s what they always do, twist scripture to involve government instead of individual responsibility.

They’re also trying to use the parable of the Good Samaritan, but that’s bogus, too. The Good Samaritan did not take the wounded stranger into his home, but rather treated him kindly and left money for his care.

How unkind it is to make those poor refugees walk for hundreds, even thousands, of miles to a safe haven when we could establish one in their own region and provide for the needs of those widows and orphans.

Just as the Good Samaritan did.

Then all those young male “refugees” could go fight to take their home back.

When will these idiots understand the concept of “cultural suicide”? Just look at Europe, these people aren’t just “the needy” they also believe Sharia is superior and will not assimilate.

They’re fools that cherry pick scripture. They’re hypocrites because they do this while not being believers in Christ.

Maybe they should consider a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Paul, in the New Testament, also says to take care of your family first, then deserving believers, and not to associate with unbelievers.

To claim that Christians are commanded to import large numbers of non-believers whose belief structure commands them to persecute and kill Christians is utter insanity.

“New Testament, Jesus told the adulterer to go and sin no more.”

and not only that, Jesus fashioned a whip and beat the sh*t out of the vendors who treated his House as a shopping mall. So much for the peacenik Jesus these libtards perceive him of..

Agreed. The left’s hatred for Christianity is blinding them to the danger of what they’re advocating.

Harry Smith quoted Scripture, so guess now we’ve got to admit all the Syrian refugees.

Only when wealth media maggots like Harry take in the majority in their own neighborhoods. Instantly they will get low wage cooks, gardeners, nannies etc so I am sure they will agree. Send 20,000 to Chappaqua and to the wealthy enclave Mitt Romney lives in, in California. Send 20,000 to Paul Ryan's Millwaukee county

Harry need to read a little more Scripture...some people come first some people come later and some get left behind....

Jesus’s first mission was for his own people ...the jews.. read the story of the Samaritan.... Christian know this.

....God does have his priorities of who come first based on his promises and he honors his promise and commitment

..our leaders have similar promises and obligation to the American people

The Syrian can be helped with zero risk to the Americans people.....food water shelter everything can to be sent.. you don't have to bring them here... so ISIS can infiltration the stream of refugees

. you can not tell me there not space in Muslim countries for these people..that would neutralize any advantage Isis might find in trying to infiltrate the refugees

Relocate the women and children first to safe places in places like Pakistan and Turkey and Indonesia... I mean to the Left is there something wrong with these Muslim countries as a safe place to relocate ?....the world can be providing the supplies including the US...

As for the military age Syria men ..they should be conscripted to fight for their country and against Isis in Syria

There's no reason to be bringing military age Syrian men in to this and other country..... while we and other countries send our military men to Syria...

this is common sense prudence ....not emotional grandstanding as the left is doing

Surely some liberal, somewhere, has the sense that Obama cooked up the refugee invite to use them as pawns, so he could make his goons think of their moral superiority rather than WTF has happened in the MidEast?

GOP Operative Plans Guerrilla Campaign Against Donald Trump
Move comes as growing number of Republicans fear damage to party’s image and Hillary Clinton will become president

The Republican establishment, increasingly alarmed by the enduring strength of Donald Trump’s presidential bid, is ratcheting up efforts to knock him out of the race, including the first attempt to unite donors from rival camps into a single anti-Trump force.

A well-connected GOP operative is planning a “guerrilla campaign” backed by secret donors to “defeat and destroy” the celebrity businessman’s candidacy, according to a memo reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.

A super PAC supporting Ohio Gov. John Kasich is airing a series of ads targeting Mr. Trump. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush struck with his bluntest attacks yet on Friday, and the super PAC associated with the Club for Growth, an economic conservative group, is trying to raise money to resume attack ads that it has run in Iowa against Mr. Trump.

Together, the efforts seem to represent a turning point in the GOP contest, in which other campaigns have previously been skittish about taking on Mr. Trump so directly. The sense of urgency has mounted in part because Mr. Trump continues at or near the top of GOP polls, even after many predicted that the Paris terror attacks would lead voters to turn to a more seasoned candidate.

The most concerted effort is Trump Card LLC, the self-styled guerrilla campaign being launched by Liz Mair, the former online communications director of the Republican National Committee.

“In the absence of our efforts, Trump is exceedingly unlikely to implode or be forced out of the race,” according to the Trump Card memo. “The stark reality is that unless something dramatic and unconventional is done, Trump will be the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton will become president.”

Even though we are supposed to pray for our enemies, do good to them, feed/clothe/water and even visit them in prison, Jesus also says

“And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.’’

There are different types of enemies. Some are personal, some are national. But obviously, there are limits in both directions.

Even Jesus set limits with leaders who chose man’s ways above God’s ways.

Being good to others doesn’t necessarily mean to bring them into your home, although there are times when it does.

People such as the refugees can also be fed and sheltered in their home countries. Paul set an example of not being a burden on others by not allowing himself to be a burden and financial drain on others.

There are limits, but they must be applied according to the WHOLE word, and not just parts and pieces of it. AND in accordance to the truths of the Holy Spirit which is the spirit of God himself.

Any quote can only be properly understood within its context. Matthew 25 starts with two parables in which Jesus is teaching his hearers to be wise and prepare for the coming of the Lord (judgement). He then finishes with a "picture" of what judgement will look like, and that is where Harry pulled this quote. In it, Jesus is talking to the sheep he has separated out and put on his right hand. Following, the sheep ask Jesus when they saw him in these conditions and came to his aid. Jesus replies, "The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’"

A fact that many people miss about the Gospel is that most of the passages that deal with taking care of people, deal with taking care of people within the "Church."
