Paris Terror Killings Could Have Cost As Little As $10,000 To Pull Off
Breitbart London ^ | 11-20-15 | Oliver Lane

Last Friday’s terror attack in Paris which killed 129 and injured hundreds more may have cost less than $10,000 to plan and execute.

The budget-terror claim was made by an unnamed counter terror expert speaking to NBC News, who said the total cost of the operation including equipment and expenses could have been as low as $10,000, equivalent to roughly £6,500 or €9,350.

One expert quoted by the news network pointed out the essential simplicity of the attacks, which did not require special equipment or training. He said: “I would note that although the attacks were coordinated, the actual method was basic bombs and guns”.

Another source said the “number does not seem implausable”.

If it is true the attack could have been made for less than $10,000, it would indicate the price of Kalashnikov rifles is in free-fall in Western Europe as supply rises with increased levels of smuggling.

In January 2015 two gunmen attacked the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris killing 12 using similar automatic weapons which reportedly cost €5,000 for the pair from an underground Belgian arms-dealer. At such prices, the automatic weapons used for last week’s assault would have cost €20,000 alone.

The economics of terror reveal the true disparity in the asymmetric warfare being waged against the West by radical Islam. Implementing counter terror provisions including thousands of extra police, special response teams, government monitoring organisations and military precision strikes against terror targets in the Middle East can cost billions of dollars. Yet what these actions are designed to prevent — lone wolf and small cell terror attacks — cost pocket-change in comparison.

Herein lies a problem we face. The jihadis scream some threats into a cellphone and we spend hundreds of millions to respond. Net cost to the jihadis: a cellphone.

Also interesting to note that the cost of black market weaponry in Europe is apparently coming down. So much for that gun control.

Islam could be removed for all Western countries for very little money. Just pick a day. Maybe Aug 24.

The graves of each of those killed in Paris and any others killed by Islamists should be adorned by heads five score and twain.

$10,000 to arm every American citizen. Then let’s invite those Mideast boys to the OK corral.

You know..... everyone talks about how sophisticated ISIS is... and the “coordination” required to pull off such attack. Seriously.... it’s a few guys saying... okay everyone set your timex. We start shooting at 9:30. I just don’t see sophistication in this attack. Even Mrs Kjam22 says it’s a handful of ragheads who started shooting.

That’s why they call it Asymmetric Warfare. They can’t fight toe to toe, but they can go all day like this. Our govt will never do what takes to stop it.

I agree.... this type of warefare will not be as successful in many areas of the US. At least that’s my opinion....

Terror as a tactic is cheap and easy. Very unsophisticated people can use the tactic with ease.

I think the only way to combat it is to react in an extremely disproportionate manner. Fill the Muslim world with fear.
Make every speaker in a mosque BEG the listeners not to do anything stupid.
Make every Muslim government BEG their citizens not to do anything stupid.
Make every Muslim family turn in relatives (husbands, wives, children) and BEG the police to stop that crazy SOB before he does anything stupid.

If the payback is always 1000-to-1, then the Muslims will abandon terrorism as a tactic, because it diminishes their population in such a drastic way.

The West’s current strategy can not win. We are taking a defensive position against Islam. They pick the time and place of the next assault and it is impossible for us to defend every house, school, theatre, train, plane or bus.
To prevail, our effort must be offensive not defensive.

Regarding planning: The terrorists only have to plan up to the point they start shooting or push the button. There need not be any plan of retreat or escape. Its pretty easy when you plan to die.

I wish it would play out that way, but given current governance...not a chance in hell. We have one party governance that seems to hate its own people. Not much you can do with that.

Interesting sidebar comment, and I should probably post an article on it: GOA is suing to reverse the 1986 machine gun ban.

Their next hit could easily be a few cheap DIY drones with explosives attached to them. They really dont even need any guns.

Fly them into a crowd and detonate. They can be half a mile away. The chaos alone will be worth the same as 800 gunmen in terms of the psychological damage.

In a nutshell that’s exactly what happened. It wasn’t difficult to plan or execute. And they didn’t even have to be particularly skilled with a firearm in a crowded area.

Caesar with all his police and all his spying and all his gun control couldn’t keep a ragtag band of jihadist swine from slaughtering over a hundred in a few minutes. Caesar’s reaction? More police, more spying, and more gun control. Because it worked out so well last time.

Yep... I’m just saying... a guy who goes down the street in my part of the country shooting at people with an AR15 better be careful because he will likely get a LOT of return fire. My part of the country is not PARIS by any stretch.

Caesar will do their damnedest to make your street and my street just the same as those of Paris. Though I don’t think they’ll be all that successful.

We’ve been very fortunate to date. We’ve gotten to see what has happened elsewhere and can plan accordingly.
