An estimated 100,000 to 240,000 women of reproductive age in Texas have attempted a self-induced abortion at some point in their lives, according to a new study.
Researchers from the Texas Policy Evaluation Project (TxPEP), who conducted the study at the University of Texas, surveyed 779 women ages 18 to 49 from across the state. Of these women, 1.7 percent reported ever having attempted to end a pregnancy on their own without medical assistance. When asked about their best friends, 4.7 percent of the participants said they were either sure or suspected the friend had tried a self-induced abortion.
The researchers applied these proportions to the almost 6 million women aged 18 to 49 living in Texas to arrive at an estimate that somewhere between 100,000 and 240,000 women of reproductive age in the state have attempted to end a pregnancy on their own without medical assistance.

Either women in Texas are desperate because they can't figure out how to kill their unborn babies now that abortion centers have to meet minimum health standards ... or the drama queens (with the help of SeeBS News) are trotting out more garbage polls just prior to U.S. Supreme Court arguments ...
They could always just off themselves.
Solve two problems at the same time.
But we know they’re cowards who only kill children.
I Don’t believe the numbers. Anyway for those that didn’t calculate, it’s 1% to 4% out of the 6000000 women.
OMG<,is Mary Maples back at CBS?
“when asked about their best friends”...are you kidding me? Are the Kardashians running CBS now?
According to the data:
14 women in Texas have attempted to induce abortion in 2014. Of those (14), 13 thought their friends MIGHT HAVE ATTEMPTED to terminate their pregnancy.
The population of Texas in 2015 was 26,528,398.
I asked my friends and neighbors between the ages of 18 and 49 how many of them used a gun for self defense. Fifty percent said they did or knew someone who did. So I guess that means that we all need to carry for self defense.
“While none of the women interviewed reported medical complications resulting from their attempts at home abortions, “
What... not a single bloody coat hanger to be found. Man CBS is slipping.
This isn’t a study, it is a public service announcement for the democrat party.
We all do need to get our heads on straight that guns are
not the culprit. Guns have a purpose when used right.

These women in Texas must be stupid, then. Even when abortion was illegal, the majority of them were done in “doctors’” offices. That whole back-alley abortion thing is BS. Besides, if one considers the way that PP operates, it may be safer and more sanitary to get a back-alley abortion.
Oh, sure! Here we go again - “Back alley abortions” will be done away with if we legalize abortion. But no it didn’t, did it? If there truly are 100,000 Texas women who have tried to self-induce?? I think this is a ridiculous number, totally made up.
Yet another bogus study being used as a political weapon
Estimated...means we’re hoping, and we’re lying.
I’m betting these figures are bullyahsure.
Well they got the number by asking if women ‘think their friend may have tried it.’
Totally BS
I read through the article to find out that every single woman who failed to abort her kid at home eventually got a surgical abortion.
That tells you exactly what this story is about, and it’s not about women being denied abortions. It’s about Planned Parenthood being kicked off the gravy train.
It is a shame Ann Richards did not practice safe sex abortion.
Anyway, I estimate that between 0 and 10 million Texas women performed this act. Send me my grant money.
