Today they are.
But there was a time...
We’re Marco, Jeb, Carly and their ilk telling us that Putin wasn’t going to attack ISIS? And these were supposed to be serious and knowledgeable candidates.
It is hard to tell from that grainy video, but it does not look like an Apache attack helicopter to me. In the first glimpse it could be a Hind (a Russian Attack helicopter), but I really think that it was a Blackhawk utility helicopter.
If a General or some VIP in the Iraqi military or Government wanted to view the column, that would be the likely bird for his joyride.
ISIS also captured a bunch of Iraqi Blackhawks when they took Mosul. It would be surprising if they could maintain and operate them, but it is possible if the crews defected to ISIS (as a lot of local Sunnis did).
The vehicles in the convoy did not fly any flags, and I did not see any identifying marks. The vehicles seemed pretty uniform, like they were purchased in a big block. Many seemed to have a machine gun mounted in the back (so-called “technicals”) while others in the second element had some wall-like thing that I could not identify.
No infantry was riding in the back, and most guns were covered, indicating that this was an administrative move, not a combat operation, and they had no fear of a possible engagement. They were heavily caked with dust. They may have gotten into a bit of bad weather, or it may have been a long drive.
The terrain does look like Western Iraq, but it could be a lot of other parts of the country as well, but too flat for the Kurdish North.
It could have been a bunch of captured equipment being moved by ISIS and the the Blackhawk observed them, but I think it more likely that this was a delivery of equipment from Iran for the Shi’ite militias in Iraq, probably from back before the assault on Tikrit.
Some shit cannot be un-seen.
That is the first step.
But the big battle that send ISIS scattered will be in Mosul.
They are WAY dug in there.
thanks for that, a$$hole
No extra charge Brother.
But I could give you a good deal on some eye bleach...
How much you want for that?
I’m sorry man. You must be one tough dude.
I’ll send prayers your way. When they come from a bad sinner they are supposed to be stronger.
in that case, mine might help!
Thanks for protecting us, man. There’s no way or words strong enough.
I guess that you are going to have to rinse with water and walk it off - I can’t figure out the HTML to send eye bleach.
Good Night.
Note that Russia s obliterating whole areas and there is NO PRESS COVERAGE AT ALL. This is Dresden II.
It is a closed military area, no CNN, no BBC, no whiners.
ISIL and related groups are not even showing pictures of devastated baby milk factories or dead kids because that’s not their way.
No coverage, hence no barbarity...good for Putin.
with this situation, if I was a friendly wanting to follow up on the ground, I would worried about getting blown up by the air strikes
Why do Russians bomb with impunity while the Western coalition does pinprick strikes? My guess is that it is a Law of War issue. The Russians have legal authority to bomb civilian areas from the Syrians. The Western coalition does not so must avoid civilians and go after specific, verifiable targets.
It is just someone using probably unrelated footage probably from another conflict zone? You are correct it isn’t an AH-64 Apache and is a Mi-24 Hind. No ISIS flags, etc. Just someone trying to make the video go viral with claims of the helo being a US Apache.
