'Donald Trump is now the super-hawk on immigration. It wasn't always so, and not so long ago.

None of the candidates have previously demonstrated a tough immigration during their careers and Cruz might have been more believable if he had come out swinging, but he didn't. Many of us here begged them to figure out why Trump was so popular but they didn't.

Therefore none of them should be completely trusted and the question becomes who is the least bad choice.

Right now I believe Trump is the logical choice.

When Trump started hinting that he would run I called him a fumble mouthed blowhard that couldn't speak in complete sentences, I still hold that view. However he is resonating with voters across party lines and likely could blow away the Hillary.

I have never felt that Cruz could capture the nomination even though he is a very good candidate especially to political junkies like the ones on this forum. He consistently garners less than 10% of the votes among Republicans and likely would get even fewer votes from democrats.

I mistakenly thought Carly would do much better than Trump if they appeared on stage together, because she could articulate the Trump message better than he could. Boy was I wrong because people don't seem to care how crude and rude he appears to be. Just like they don't seem to care how perfect Cruz is.

I think Cruz missed an opportunity that Trump revealed in the immigration issue. In fact I think they all did, likely because the donor class is pro amnesty.

I have never seen a crazier primary season in my 77 years.

Cruz is more of an insider than he pretends to be. We are seeing the cracks in the veneer.

I tend to agree.

If Trump was the only one who could beat Hillary, I might agree (or, given Trump's history of unconservative statements on a number of issues, I might say 'a pox on both their houses'). But RCP doesn't support a clear Cruz/Trump difference against Hillary: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/general_election_trump_vs_clinton-5491.html, http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/general_election_cruz_vs_clinton-4034.html
