Ted Cruz, in an interview with Laura Ingraham was asked about his position on H1-B Visas. Ted explains his position now as opposed to his position in 2013. Cruz and Sessions are crafting legislation to reform the H1-B program and to deal with he abuses that are harming American workers.

The entire interview is excellent and the H1-B visa issue discussion begins around the 7:50 mark.

The H1B visa program should be amended to force companies who replace American workers with cheap H1Bs to pay the displaced workers a full 2 years pay with full benefits.

It's remarkable how flexible someone's philosophy can be when he's in the midst of a competitive presidential race. Trump vs. Cruz

Sounds reasonable to me. I look forward to hearing the details of the new legislation Ted and Jeff are working on.

I knew he would address this issue. Cruz doesn’t want to see the American worker suffer, and he understands the impact of illegal and even legal immigration abuse.

Ted flip flops to get on the correct side of the issue.

Fair enough. This was his remaining weakness to conservatives and populists to my knowledge. Better to correct a mistake than leave it hanging.

Now, will certain FReepers allow a correction, or hang him by it?

True, however at least the anti-H1B message is getting out, its not the governments job to play matchmaker with private companies who use it to displace American workers, let them get a job the old fashioned way.

Thank you Senator Cruz! H1B is nothing more than foreign out-sourcing by bringing the foreigners here, while claiming to be keeping the jobs in America. Go in ANY medium to large IT shop and you'll find that it is staffed mostly with (East) Indians. Don't believe the argument that there are no qualified Americans.

You mean like how Trump first of all supported everything from Obamacare to abortion to Obama’s illegal, unconstitutional “Dream Act”(and still does), and only changed his views(or so he says) because he is running for president?

I do not think people will hang him as long as the same courtesy is extended to others.

Cruz emphasizes a very different circumstance in 2013 that has gradually gotten into abuse of American workers and has to be corrected. I’ve always know he would address this. He and Sessions are Leaders!

His call to raise the cap was turned down by the gang of 8 for a reason.

They knew it wouldn’t actually lead to an increase in the numbers because it was tied raising wages for imported labor to equal what domestic labor makes. Penalties for hiring foreign labor would be increased by thousands of dollars per employee etc.

I do not agree with bringing in H-1B workers to replace normal workers.

If a foreign national has some ground-breaking knowledge or expertise not common here, then okay.

Even then, it shouldn’t be at the expense of other workers.

The idea is to bring in knowledge that will increase U. S. productivity and jobs, not eliminate them.

Ping.

It looks like he finally saw the light.

Sessions is in the background on this, so good will come of it.
