Technically, not -- only about half of them. Entering the U.S. without permission is a misdemeanor. But about half of all the illegal aliens in the U.S. entered legally (typically on a two-week tourist visa) and never left. "Visa overstays" are subject to deportation, but have not committed a crime.

The Government of Mexico doesn't get the remittances; they go to the families of the illegals. If remittances stop, those families will come here rather than stay in Mexico.

Just because Trump would create a deportation plan, he did say it would be humane and fair. Those that want back in LEGALLY will be accommodated. He did not say he was going to personally drag illegals back across the border by the feet.

And make them post a $10,000 bond for illegally entering the country. The bond will be refunded if they legally apply for citizenship and are accepted. No bond, no chance to become a citizen. That seems humane to me and also offers them financial incentive to play by the rules.
Operation Wetback worked though, which was Trump’s point. Today, jet passenger liners would be the primary means of conveying the illegals home. Their native countries — that all profess such love for their people — can then provide and manage further resettlement.
