Ann Coulter Claims To Be Native American Because She Descended From Settlers
MINT PRESS NEWS ^ | 10 NOVEMBER 2015 | By Christie Michelle Poitra

Ann Coulter made a guest appearance on The View to promote her latest book Adios, America: The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole. Since Coulter has built an entire career on the shock value of her political opinions, it is not surprising that this interview was filled with controversial statements about immigrants, and a questionable presentation of United States history.

A couple minutes into the interview, host Ana Navarro challenged Coulter’s views about immigrants by asking if her family immigrated to America. Coulter responded to Navarro’s question by stating that she is actually a Native American because she descended from the early settlers who founded the United States.

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and therefore am a native American by each and every definition of those two words. I’ve had enough of these race-baiters trashing what appears to be good English.

I checked the native american box on the last census. I was born here.

Yeah, me too. I didn't check that box, but maybe I will next time.

Every time I have to check a box for "race," I check other and write in "Human." Pisses people off, which is partly the point (and the fun).

I would think so if the metric is one of ancestors here before the formation of the United States.

If it is before the Spaniards and Italians (specifically Amerigo Vespucci) stumbled on the Continent, then I guess we'd have to trace it back to the Vikings or the Welsh, or the other groups who may well have been here.

Actually, that’s correct, since the land inhabited by the tribes before the US was founded was not “America”. Similarly, those now living in Israel who are, or are descended from, those who lived in Palestine before the founding of Israel, would not now be called “Native Israelis”.

By the definition of the word if you’re born in the USA you are a native American. A “Native American” is a different thing.

I changed my mind. Coulter and all other Americans are native Americans. Indigenous Americans should not be called Native Americans.

But they are neither indigenous, nor native. They are asians who walked over settled America. And some may be polynesians who paddled over.

My ancestors have been here since the mid 17th century. I think that makes me a native. I sure as hell ain’t European.

When I was in school in the 50s, Native American was someone born here and Aboriginal American was a polite term for the Indians.

Yep.

First one of my family to hit theses shores was about 1670ish (I need to pull out the info and read it again) in Jamestown settlement.

We fought in every war around these parts since then.

And yeah bammy, we damn sure DID build a few things around here.

Yours truly, TLI, (very) Native American.

They went and sold guns and liquor to the indians.

Because they were buying."

My ancestors were chased out of almost every country in Europe.

You know, you've just confirmed something I've suspected for a long time, I come from a long line, and am myself, a lot smarter than you!

See my ancestors left before they were chased out!

All in jest my fellow Freeper, all in jest.
