Earlier this week, we shared new reports about the investigation into Noah Harpham, who police say shot and killed three people before dying in a gun battle with officers. A neighbor, Naomi Bettis, said she’d called 911 after seeing Harpham with a gun but was told there was nothing police could do owing to open carry laws; see our previous coverage below.

The problem wasn’t so much that he was carrying, it’s that nobody else was.
It’s a lie, the police were already rolling before they told here open carry was was not in and of itself a crime.

How do you conceal-carry a rifle?
Just because some one has a gun out in the open does NOT mean they are a legal CCW permit carrier. Any drugged up criminal will do stupid things like waving a gun out in the open and begin shooting people.
A true CCW carrier will have theirs holstered. Unless they need to use it. TN is a open carry state, we don’t have this kind of stupidity with legal Carriers.
Its the stupid criminals in Memphis and Nashville that are the problem. And the LIBERAL judges that let them out on bond, bail, or probation, or early prison release.
This is why we should just allow concealed carry.
That way you won’t freak any dummy out thinking there’s about to be a mass shooting because a gun is present. They jump up and start firing all on their own, you know.
I’d rather see open carry adopted everywhere. The left and anti-gunners want guns hidden to make it seem as if they’re something about which we should be ashamed. Americans should be proud of their heritage and their right to be free to carry a firearm for personal protection.
Until we get away from this sissified mentality that guns are evil, we’re going to continue to have scared little sheep among the populace. This is why America has turned into a third-rate political shithole.
I love how whenever some people discover some facet of life that has escaped infinite regulation, they’re scandalized and automagically assume it’s a problem.

Someone should tell Nervous Nellie that it has nothing to do with open carry; those who carry concealed can do the same thing.

ANY permit or registration requirement or any law limiting carry is a clear infringement upon our rights as recognized in the second amendment. Anyone who should not be armed should not be running around loose.
If your hands are on the gun in public and the muzzle is pointed anywhere but the ground, LE has every reason to grill you at gunpoint.
I agree, but our ancestors let the liberals get away with the first set of gun control laws, with out challenging them in the USSC. Now we have the crappy system we now have.
Tennessee is a Open Carry State, but it is pure stupidity to wave a gun around in public.
2nd Amendment is all the permit we need. Not all people should be allowed guns...criminals for one or the mentally ill or illegals.
Nothing in the second amendment denies the criminal or the crazy the right to self defense. Anyone who should not be armed should not be running around loose.
