Family Research Council president Tony Perkins has been broadcasting his “Washington Watch†radio program from Israel this week, where he is helping to lead an FRC tour group. Also on the tour is former Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, who joined Perkins on the program on Wednesday to share her view that biblical prophecy is being fulfilled all around her and that it was more urgent than ever to convert as many people as possible — including Jews — to Christianity to prepare for the imminent return of Christ.
“Almost every article in the paper†has to do with conflicts in Israel, Bachmann said, “and it ties with so much biblical prophecy. This week really was about biblical prophecy in many ways. And we’re seeing as events are speeding up, events are speeding up so quickly right now, and we see how relevant the Bible is, and we’re reading our newspaper, at the same time we’re learning about these biblical events, and it’s literally day by day by day, we’re seeing the fulfillment of scripture right in front of our eyes, even while we’re on the ground.â€
“We recognize the shortness of the hour,†she said, “and that’s why we as a remnant want to be faithful in these days and do what it is that the Holy Spirit is speaking to each one of us, to be faithful in the Kingdom and to help bring in as many as we can — even among the Jews — share Jesus Christ with everyone that we possibly can because, again, He’s coming soon.â€

That's her opinion, not an uncommon one amongst Christians. However it is not a call to convert Jews, but to convert an many as we can. Wouldn't convert to convert a few Muslims too. Other headlines which mirror the same distortion.

Because she believes an event in HER religion is going to occur, which has nothing to do with Jews, then Jews have to convert to her religion to experience that event? Absolutely nuts. There--I said it. And I couldn't care less who doesn't like it.

There are some Freepers who think it is wrong to want to convert Jews to Christianity. They take it as an insult to Jews. Not all of those who take offense are Jews either. Strange.

As someone who has tried to build bridges with Jews in terms of the Conservative mindset this is the 2nd time she has done something like this, and I will have undue her mess, and explain it away because they will equate her words with all Conservatives / Tea Partier's and we all become nutters because of her foot in mouth ailment.

Jews, the conservative ones are decent folks. The “cultural jews” ie. The athiest jews always seem to me to be the most worried about this sorta thing concerning people like bachman. At least that is my impression anyways.
I view bachman’s group trying to covert jews like the jehova witlesses... easily ignorable and mostly harmless if ignored or shunned.
Unlike the clock kid’s religion.

I can relate to her, just less vocally. Standard orthodox Judaism wants every human being to believe in the one Creator, G-d,and,to abide by seven basic precepts (with many off-shoots) that He commands. Not that all should convert to Judaism with its 613 comments and countless offshoots. But included in this is the requirement for every Hindu and Buddhist to change their beliefs, and additionally every trinitarian Christian to believe only in (what they would call the father) G-d. We believe that Christianity and Islam have “formatted” the world’s hard drive to accept this when Jews fulfil their part of G-d’s covenant collectively, becoming a true light to the nations.
Nothing short of miraculous, ey? Quite a chutzpah of them Jews too.
