Five Students Injured, Suspect Shot Dead in California College Knife Attack

Faisal Mohammed was the Islamic terrorist killed after stabbing innocent college students.

The UC Merced student who wounded four people in a stabbing spree at the campus has been identified as Faisal Mohammad, a freshman student from Santa Clara.

Merced Couty Sheriff Vern Warnke confirmed the identity of the 18-year-old student to the Sun-Star early Thursday.

Mohammad was shot and killed by UC Merced police just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning as he ran from the two-story classroom building where investigators said his violent spree began.

Warnke said investigators, including the FBI, were still trying to determine the motive for Mohammad attack, which wounded two students, a female student advisor and a construction worker who was on campus for a remodeling project. The four suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The funny thing is that the classic "switch blade" is usually pretty cheap and inefficient. Designed to suddenly "flip open" and scare the bejesus out of the average sheep. The trouble is that the blade is way too long to be strong enough at the hinge so as to reliably hold together if the blade is actually used to penetrate skin in a serious manner. Cheap knife, cheap punk and usually means an unskilled punk. I'd be much more concerned with someone who used a sheath knife with a fixed blade. Also there is the indicator of how the blade is held in the hand and how and where it is positioned for possible use.

There is a lot to be said on this topic. A punk who uses sloppy blades and sloppy blade technique is using it for show and as an easy way to make a fast illegal buck. He'll be unprepared to really use it in a decisive manner and might be easier to repel. But somebody who learned the trade in prison and is ready to use it will be more skilled and readier to use it in a lethal manner. He'll have a quality blade and will use a technique that fits the situation and his awareness.

I have to laugh at the guys who chortle about perps who bring a knife to a gunfight as if having the firearm as the "victim" is automatically going to result in a victory for the party carrying the gun. Because gun handlers be advised, going up against a knife armed perp who knows what he's about and is prepared to use his implement may find themselves guilty of bringing a gun to a stabbing.

No, blame overpriced Cutco knives. They leech off of HS seniors looking for a way to raise money for college. We were hit up by a nephew several years ago.
