The stepson of a 55-year-old suspected robber shot dead Saturday night at a Southwest Side store by a customer with a concealed carry license expressed anger, frustration and doubt about the incident Sunday.
Killed was Reginald Gildersleeve, 55, of the 5000 block of South California Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Gildersleeve was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m. on the scene in the 2700 block of West 51st Street, according to the medical examiner's office.

I used to own a gun just like the one pictured, even down to the blue paint wearing off, (from all those quick draws).

You can’t shoot to wound. Guys have been shot in the skull or chest in combat and lived, others shot in the leg or arm have died in a few minutes, if it hits a main artery or vein (bleed out).
You can never tell. When you shoot someone, it’s always a kill shot. If the shot person lives, they’re lucky.

I’m not certain, but I think you misunderstood my comment ... maybe I wasn’t clear. I was saying that the step son’s statement to shoot to wound was an eye-roller. Wounding someone who is holding a gun and threatening you is a terrible strategy, since they will still be able to fire their gun. I don’t know where these idiots come up with this logic, but I read similar comments from time to time, from the friends and family of someone that gets put down while they are in the commission of a felony.
There he was, innocently committing a crime, & Bam! Some bastard off and shoots him!
What’s wrong with this world when you can’t commit a crime and you can’t even be safe!? That aint right!

We just had a double thug killing in Reading, Pa where the perps came in, one with a gun another with a stun gun. A shot was fired and the two owners said “BOOSHIT! Senors” and blew two of them away. A third got away but the cops are still following his trail of excrement as we speak.
