Earlier this week, meat lovers everywhere bemoaned the results of a new study released by the World Health Organization that declared processed meats such as sausages, bacon, and ham to be carcinogenic to humans-- lumping the beloved proteins into the same category as cigarettes and asbestos.
But the news for carnivores got worse. WHO research also labeled red meats like non-cured pork, beef, and lamb as "probably carcinogenic.â
Amid the outcry from meat producers and lovers everywhere was a particularly long Facebook post from carnivore-centric celebrity chef Michael Symon. Symon, best known as a co-star of ABC's "The Chew", who penned a cookbook âCarnivore: 120 Recipes for Meat Lovers," called the study a "witch hunt" and a "disservice" for lumping in mass produced meat with âcrafted artisan products.â

I agree, more or less with what Symon has to say, but he’s a bit too into organ meats for my taste. I’ll take my pepperoni and bacon as well as my steak, roast and chicken.
Artisan products? Pork fat rules.
Want to know what isn’t artisan? Eggplant genetically engineered to grow to the size of ones thumb. Tomatoes loaded with seeds that will not grow new plants. Cabbage that produces no gas. Ok, that one is good.

I’ve always thought that “Carnivore” was the greatest name for a cookbook ever.
Who is an organization run by mussies and vegetarians.
The media always reports these studies in such a misleading way. Even assuming (which I don’t) that the study is accurate they report that eating processed meat daily will “increase your chance of getting colon cancer by 18%”. The average person hears that and thinks it means 18% of the people who eat it will get colon cancer”. In fact, it means if 5% of the population will get it, 6% of those who eat processed meats will get it.
I love meat, pork, fish and chicken....don’t like deer meat, pheasant, duck or bear....
I’ll take all the deer meat that you don’t eat.
Isn’t it obvious? The cancer wards are full of lions and tigers and bears. Oh, my!

Shouldn’t ABC be dumping his show? After all, he promotes the consumption of a food that causes cancer.

Nobody really listens to the WHO anyway. It is a UN organization, with a political agenda that is much bigger than its science agenda.
