I notice that Obama does that all the time when talking to or referring to someone with a title, most noticeably a Rep. Congressman. It’s either Joe said this, or Ron did that, never referring to them by their titles. I don’t know if this is deliberate or if he’s just uncouth. Probably both.
I guess standing on his tippy toes didn’t help Jeb.

It’s to convey the idea that they are close and adds an air of authenticity to what they are saying. By calling him Chris, it suggest she would always have his best interest at heart and wouldn’t have done anything that could harm him. It helps to make the lie more believable.

IMO, Barack does it on purpose to both show disrespect for the Republicans in the House and Senate, and to imply that they are working hand-in-hand with him. ...They should stop calling him Mr. President, etc., and just refer to him as Baraq.

Trump didn’t do that. He only said he didn’t know about the SDA religion. Most people don’t know about the SDAs, until they do some research to find out it’s a cult of pacifists and strange ideas about Archangel Michael.

However, to my knowledge, 7th Day Adventists have yet to perform any beheadings or other terrorist acts.
Accordingly, it is completely out of line to cast the denomination in the same light as radical Islam. And, make no mistake, that is exactly what Trump did.
