I’ve had black women walk in front of my vehicle as if they own the road when I have the right of way! It’s like they’re trying to be hit or make it close enough so that they’d have something to cry about. Cry me a river!

One time when I was still working and was coming home in San Francisco I was driving along Fell St. which borders the panhandle of Golden Gate Park.
I saw a middle aged gentleman of the AA variety start to cross Fell St. about 1.5 blocks away in the middle of the block. He was wearing what looked like the finest polyester suit JCP had to offer complete with cowboy hat,boots and briefcase. Reminded me of Herb Tarlek from “WKRP in Cincinnati.”
I generally don't mind jaywalkers as a rule so long as they do it quickly but this fellow was just sauntering across the lanes as I closed while driving my 4x4. Once he saw me coming towards him he went into a modified “Cake Walk”

Two can play that game so I accelerated and downshifted and went straight at him. The engine noise caught his attention. I didn't intend to hit him just let him feel the air blast as I went past. He looked right at me, froze, then launched him self between 2 parked cars along the parkside of the road and into the park. I missed him so no foul.
GG park in that area is slightly elevated above the curb forming a slight berm. He tripped and went face first into the dirt, hat and briefcase went flying. The last I saw of him was in my side mirror jumping up and down screaming,cursing and throwing his briefcase around.

[[My sister is a radiology tech in the local county hospital and can vouch for the fact that minority races do indeed get hit by cars as pedestrians much more often than others. Alcohol or drugs are almost always involved (in the pedestrian). ]]
Not to mention the fact that in many of these high accident areas, there are many more black people who don’t drive because they are low income, drug addicted, alcoholics etc- and so car/pedestrian accidents would be higher in these areas, whereas in areas where more people drive cars, car/car accidents predominate
People can distort the reasons behind statistics in numerous ways- in this case, the article leaves out the fact that more black people are getting hit because more black people and native americans don’t have liscences and are addicted to drugs or alcoholics
I had something similar happen a few decades ago on Market St. in SF, back when cars were allowed to drive on it. The jaywalker froze up as I quickly approached, and did a frantic dance forwards and backwards to avoid me. He tripped and fell on his face. I slammed on the brakes, stopped, got out and helped him up. He profusely apologized to me for jaywalking and painfully made his way across the street. Hopefully he learned not to jaywalk across a busy street.
Certain cultures have fewer restraints about jaywalking. If you haven’t noticed this, you don’t drive around cities much.
I think it’s more passive-aggression than obliviousness.
I suggest a dash cam for evidence if you end up hitting someone.
Could be that inner city young men think that they walk out in front of cars expecting them to just stop.... See this sort of crap daily in certain parts of my city. They will look right at an oncoming car and step out... every so often they misjudge how fast the driver will be able to brake.
There is an invulnerability state of mind with nearly every pedestrian and cyclist. Often it’s the poisonous thought in their head that they have the right of way. A stupid liberal premise that again kills more people than it protects; a misplaced their trust in others for their own safety. Since liberalism hits minorities hardest it’s natural to conclude they suffer the most.
Have you ever lived in an urban area? Guess who is sauntering across the street wearing dark hoodies at all hours of the night? Yeah. Not surprised at all.
I know right? All the darn time! And on residential streets they would saunter down the center of the road and glare at you when you waited for them to get out of the way of your car.

So, they're saying that injuns, 'spanics and blacks are not smart enough to look both ways before crossing, right? That's racist, ain't it?
In my town there is a mostly HUD apartment building across a 60 mph speed limit limited access expressway from a grocery store. About two or three times a year, an AA type would get killed crossing the highway (often at night, usually in dark clothes).
The city finally built a pedestrain overpass because they got tired of repairing holes in the chain link fence on both sides. There was already an overpass with good sidewalks and traffic signals about 200 yards away, but that was way too much trouble to use.
More likely she was trying to get you to stop so her three or four cohorts hiding nearby could drag you from the car, beat you to death and steal it!
