In this case, Russian credibility is not at issue. The Daily Mail, a well known anti-Russian, anti-Putin, newspaper quotes an English language Arab website.
In sorting through credibility issues in general, it is often useful to employ a variant on the old legal concept of “admission against interest.” If a publication or website makes a statement that is contrary to its perceived prejudice or point of view, it is likely to be credible.
I don’t know anything about the Arab website, but the fact that an anti-Putin newspaper quotes it suggests the DM finds it credible.
