President Obama is hoping to use the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon as the backdrop for his call for more gun control today, but the locals aren’t standing idly by.

Many are already our in force — over 8,000 by one estimate — telling the president to go home.

Larry Brown ‏@LarryB_in_OK Over 8,000 protesters are lining the streets in #Roseburg to oppose #Obama showing up there today. #ObamaGoHome

Several people on hand are posting photos of the protesters’ signs and messages to Obama.

“My family, my friends, everybody down here is not happy about him coming,” Roseburg native Michelle Finn told The Oregonian yesterday.

“He already says he’s going to politicize this — he’s already going to push his agenda. And if he knew Roseburg and Douglas County, he’d know these are the wrong people to be doing that with.”

We don't want Obama here! #Roseburg #ObamaGoHome #hewtt @jbiver1 @BZep .@AndyWendt

Interesting to see how the MSM doesn’t cover this.

Jacques and other community leaders just don’t want Obama coming to their town pushing his gun confiscation agenda.

“Well I think the president will not be welcomed into the community. And that is not just my opinion. We talked to dozens upon dozens of citizens, some family members of the victims, our elected officials. And you may have a copy, if you don’t I’d be glad to read from it on the air that our Douglas County commissioners along with our Douglas County sheriff, who is very popular, and our chief of police all came to consensus language about him not being welcome here to grandstand for political purposes.”

He says that many people in the community were extremely offended when Obama held a press conference pushing for more gun control hours after the shooting, before residents had even finished “counting the bodies on the campus.”

He added, “So now he [Obama] wants to come to our community and stand on the corpses of our loved ones to make some kind of a political point, and it isn’t going to be well-received.”

Conservative Tribune adds:

Nor will he likely be well received by Bonnie Schaan, the mother of victim Cheyenne Fitzgerald, who was shot in the back during the incident but survived.

“America, we need to pack guns — if this is what it’s coming to — to have to protect ourselves,” she said during an interview with NBC.

It sounds like nobody in Roseburg wants President Obama to show up there, because like the rest of us, they recognize that Obama is only interested in scoring political points.

When it comes to the actual victims and their families, well… they’re just collateral damage to him.

The notoriously thin-skinned Narcissit-in-Chief will not be happy.

Love the signs: “Obama Free Zone” & “Go Golf” are my favorites thus far.

He has a fundraiser/DNC meeting in Seattle but he’s stopping by Roseburg first .... is this the way he puts the tab for the cross country AF1 flight on the taxpayers .... hmmmm?

He’s a vindictive prick. Narcissists can’t handle humiliation. They’ll pay for it.

Oregon has been blue since 1988. Lets hope this is a sign of change coming.

Like California, and Washington State, the coast line is solid communist and their populations dwarf the people inland - who tend to be conservative.
So, I too hope for a change from blue - but unlikely.

My best friend lives in semi-rural Oregon. He tells me the vast majority of the state is conservative, but like several other states, is wildly skewed by a city.

Portland, in this case. Totally controls the state political scene, to the immense frustration of the rest.

From what I understand Oregon outside Portland and Eugene is about as GOP as they come. Like in many states two different worlds between urban/rural divide.
