U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said on Thursday he will stay in the top post in the House of Representatives until his successor is elected, adding that he would announce the date of that vote later.

"We will announce the date for this election at a later date, and I’m confident we will elect a new speaker in the coming weeks," the Ohio Republican said in a statement released after the surprise withdrawal of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy from the race.

The credit if any is deserved outside of the House goes to Sen. Ted Cruz.

So Bonehead is going to stay speaker by not calling for an election until he is sure that one of his other idiots is going to win the election.

God! Don’t you just love democracy, as practiced in the house and senate, oh, and yes, in the executive branch, and, uh, in the judicial branch, and the Dept. of justice, IRS, State Dept.

Hell! the whole damn thing.

Saw that coming.

As long as Boehner can stretch this out the longer he can rubber stamp the Obama agenda.

If he tries to ram through more RAT supported bills, call for a motion to
vacate the chair and kick his sorry ass out before he can do more
damage.
He and the GOPe’s have done enough damage.

Wow. He wants accolades for being a responsible person. That’s what you do when you are a leader. Sheesh. People want praise for doing what is expected.

Mark Meadows needs to go through with his motion to Vacate the Chair; get rid of Boehner and force an election.

When the House can’t do a simple think like voting for a replacement, he doesn’t have much of a choice. The House is screwing him not the other way around.

Well, who controls the House?

Doesn’t he have the power to announce when the election is going to be?

“if any is deserved outside of the House “

Bless you, the House conservatives have done an amazing job.
Though their intentions are supported by the constituencies of over half the Republican caucus, they only have the strong support of 10% of the House. A mere 10%.

Cruz has been their faithful and useful supporter in the Senate. But his (or Trump’s since the argument will occur) was teriary at best.
These fine House conservatives deserve their well-earned credit for what they have done.

He has the power to schedule the election, but not to control the outcome. He will try to delay until he thinks he can control the outcome.

Thus the ruse is apparent. Boehner avoids a vote of no confidence and continues to delay the new Speaker vote indefinitely justifiably due to lack of consensus on the next speaker. Guaranteed to provide Obama the government funding victory he is demanding. Don’t forget the little tidbit about Guantanamo being closed and all prisoners released before Obama leaves office. I’m afraid our friends in the Freedom Caucus may have just been bested here. I hope I’m wrong.
