When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to the UN General Assembly this week, neither Secretary of State Kerry nor even our UN Ambassador, Samantha Power, was present.
Why not? The State Department has said Kerry was involved in some kind of conference call or video conference with the White House. OK, let’s call that plausible. What about Power?
Rick Grenell, for years the spokesman at the US Mission to the UN and a very well-informed observer, tweeted yesterday that Power was instructed to stay away.
Think of how petty that instruction, which can only have come from the White House, really is. To sit in the seat and listen to Netanyahu isn’t endorsing his remarks, it is the politeness we owe an ally. Deliberate absence recalls the years in which dozens of delegations, Arab and “Third World,” would leave the chamber when any Israeli rose to speak. This administration is still griping about diplomatic errors Netanyahu has made, but a refusal to have the US ambassador listen to his speech is petty and damaging, hinting to anti-Israel delegations that the United States may be willing to let all sorts of anti-Israel measures go without opposition or criticism.
This is a low point for seven years of Obama diplomacy. I’ll admit to surprise that Kerry, who appears to value diplomatic niceties greatly (and arguably too much) let this happen. But perhaps he knew nothing about it or was overruled by the White House.
As for Samantha Power, one has to wonder what was running through her mind when she was instructed to stay away. Is this really why she left the academic and intellectual life– to be used by the Obama administration to insult and damage Israel?
How many times did Kerry go to Israel only to be told they won’t commit national suicide?

Samantha Power has always hated Israel. She was born in Ireland and identifies closely with the “Palestinian” cause. She is married to the infamous Cass Sunsteen, whom Glenn Beck exposed as an extremist. He was Obama’s big Czar, and believes in no 2nd amendment rights or right to free speech or expression. He does believe in animal rights!
Pathetic hag Power has advocated invading Israel and was behind the global apology tour wherein Obama groveled for the past sins of the USA.
However, to her credit, Power was briefly fired by Obama for calling Hillary a “Monster”. LOL

Obama made sure his hatred for Netanyahu was on full display for all the world to see by making certain that Kerry and Powers were not present for Netanyahu’s speech.
Talk about a grand and colossal snub. Disgraceful, shameful and yet completely petty, transparent and immature.
The weak, effeminate Obama has actually marginalized himself and his sick, incompetent administration. He’s ceded authority to Putin.

The question that should be asked of Hillary is, “Has Obama treated Israel poorly and would you treat Israel the same way Obama has?”

You are right on target, shalom aleichem, with your statement as to who Samantha Power is, a radical leftist who has always been anti-Israel. I wouldn't think that she needed any coaching from Obama or Kerry to stay away from Netanyahu's speech. That being said, I wouldn't make much of Power's being born in Ireland; there are unfortunately too many pro-Islamist, anti-Israel radical leftists in powerful positions throughout the western world.
As for Elliot Abrams, the author of this piece and former Assistant Secretary of State in the Reagan Administration, he seems to be surprised at the Obama Administration's latest snub against Israel. Abrams should know these pigs better by now.
