Turkey has again summoned the Russian ambassador after a second violation of its airspace by a Russian warplane operating in Syria in two days.

It did the same after the first violation on Saturday, after which two Turkish F-16 jets were scrambled.

Turkey said the second violation occurred on Sunday.

Nato has urged Russia to end air strikes "on the Syrian opposition and civilians". Russia says it is targeting Islamic State and other Islamists.

Russia says it is targeting Islamic State and other Islamists.

Russia is just paraphrasing Obama:

If you like your Syrian opposition, you can keep your Syrian opposition.

And then eliminating it.

Ooooooo! The ambassador got summoned! Next thing you know the Russians will be asked (politely, of course) to bang out the erasers.

Wow, Assad is in much worse shape than I thought. No wonder Russia is taking an “oh shit; no shit” approach to solving the problem.

IMO Turkey is a large part of the problem and no part of the solution.

Turkey should not be in NATO!

I suspect that Russia will “ask” that Turkey no longer operate planes over Syrian airspace... all they want to do is kill Kurds.

I say shoot down any Turkish plane attacking Kurds.

DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN!

Sultan Mehmed IV to the Zaporozhian Cossacks:

As the Sultan; son of Muhammad; brother of the sun and moon; grandson and viceroy of God; ruler of the kingdoms of Macedonia, Babylon, Jerusalem, Upper and Lower Egypt; emperor of emperors; sovereign of sovereigns; extraordinary knight, never defeated; steadfast guardian of the tomb of Jesus Christ; trustee chosen by God Himself; the hope and comfort of Muslims; confounder and great defender of Christians - I command you, the Zaporogian Cossacks, to submit to me voluntarily and without any resistance, and to desist from troubling me with your attacks.

—Turkish Sultan Mehmed IV

Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Turkish Sultan!

O sultan, Turkish devil and damned devil’s kith and kin, secretary to Lucifer himself. What the devil kind of knight are you, that can’t slay a hedgehog with your naked arse? The devil excretes, and your army eats. You will not, you son of a bitch, make subjects of Christian sons; we’ve no fear of your army, by land and by sea we will battle with thee, f* your mother.

You Babylonian scullion, Macedonian wheelwright, brewer of Jerusalem, goat-f*er of Alexandria, swineherd of Greater and Lesser Egypt, pig of Armenia, Podolian thief, catamite of Tartary, hangman of Kamyanets, and fool of all the world and underworld, an idiot before God, grandson of the Serpent, and the crick in our dick. Pig’s snout, mare’s arse, slaughterhouse cur, unchristened brow, screw your own mother!

So the Zaporozhians declare, you lowlife. You won’t even be herding pigs for the Christians. Now we’ll conclude, for we don’t know the date and don’t own a calendar; the moon’s in the sky, the year with the Lord, the day’s the same over here as it is over there; for this kiss our arse!

“IMO Turkey is a large part of the problem and no part of the solution.

Turkey should not be in NATO!”

From this article: http://news.yahoo.com/iraq-militia-boss-says-us-not-serious-fighting-142016723.html?soc_src=copy

‘The government in Baghdad has since said it might consider allowing Russia to bomb IS targets in Iraq as well.

Ameri said IS’s ability to recruit internationally was unprecedented in the history of terrorism.

“They are currently recruiting fighters from 108 countries in the world and all of them are going through Turkey, with the coalition’s knowledge,” he said.

“We told America ‘if you are serious about fighting Daesh, you have to stop those arrivals, which are wreaking carnage and destruction on Syria and Iraq’,” he said.’

Turkey is the enemy. They are protecting ISIS. They are bombing kurds, the only people fighting ISIS. NOw they bitch about a small overflight by Russian bombers as they are bombing jihadi rebels.

The Turkeys should be welcoming them to make a turn over the border if they need to.

Thanks!

I did not realize the recruits were mostly going through Turkey.

Turkish fighters violate Syrian airspace -everyday- against the will of the Government. Seems like a precedent has been set.

With USAF aircraft based in Turkey I’m surprised Obama didn’t scramble one our tankers to offer aerial refueling to the Russian jet.

Now we know the answer:

Check out this video from Moscow. In the text they claim that it is 2 SU-30 on a mission to bomb ISIS. But the weapons are not for attack! What are they doing?

Up close video of main aircraft and munitions being used - also, not mentioned, they're using leaflet dispensers.

The map is a number of days old - probably represents the situation at the start of Russia’s engagement and as you said, “Russia’s oh shit” moment.
