EPA Statistics:

If a Man exposed to an atmosphere of 1,000,000 PPM of Nitrogen, he has a 100% chance of Premature death.

Therefore, if he’s exposed to a 800,000 PPM of Nitrogen atmosphere, there will be an 80% chance of premature death...wait, what?

Nonsense! Tractor-trailer trucks have no emission standards ...

Are you suuuuuuuuure about that? The manufacturers of Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Caterpillar and others may disagree after spending untold millions developing the anti-pollution devises the government has demanded to be incorporated into their engines. Untold millions.

BS science is easy. All they do is get a rough estimate of emmissions of any "pollutant" over a given time span. Then they divide by the estimated number of people dieing from any disease remotely connected to pulmonary problems, over the same time span. Bingo! You get the grim "tons per death" number.

Problem is, there's no causation. You can do this math for anything. How many cannoli do Italians eat for every death in Poughkeepsie? It doesn't matter! It's fearmongering OCD BS: step on a crack, break your mother's back.

A more fun project, using this math, would be to figure how many miles Al Gore has to fly in his jet before he kills a person. I'm guessing not too many.

Yes, cut the bullshit. Those numbers are not provable and Planned Parenthood has VW beat by a factor of millions.
The Gubmint encourages cheating by making laws that are unreasonable in goals. I'm not defending VW, perhaps they should have contested the law.

Wow, you bring up a good point. Indeed, “How many died over the same period of infected ingrown toenails?”
If, those infected toenails were involved in crashes and deaths while driving VWs.....The “Double Whammy!”

Drivel indeed!

How many deaths were caused by falling asleep at the wheel?

If any, and I'm sure there are many, we must BAN SLEEP!

Oh, maybe some of the old ones do, and some may not be maintained very well. Generally speaking though, we’ve come a long way from the era of black smoke belching trucks that were under powered to begin with. They’re much more efficient now. My old truck back in ‘95 got 5 miles to the gallon and was pretty good on power. The new one gets 9 miles to the gallon and has power to spare. A lot cleaner, too.

That is quite an improvement. OK then, thank you for the correction.

I do know those rigs can really scoot nowadays. If they don't want you to pass them, you ain't going to pass them. ;-D
