What is your theory on why the US and its allies have been trying to oust Assad? I’m assuming that after John Kerry’s Syria attack trial balloon was flatly rejected in 2013 they have been moving against him covertly. If it isn’t oil and gas or the means to deliver them to markets, do you think it is control of nearly all states around the Mediterranean?
Same as in Libya, Egypt, Algeria, and Yemen. It’s all part of Obama’s “Arab Spring” policy of replacing dictators with democratic elections.
Which is to say, it’s all FUBAR nonsense foreign policy. De-colonization gone wild.
And wasn’t the Muslim Brotherhood part of this plan? So you don’t think there was a strategic point to it beyond decolonization or to the spread of democracy?
You could run with guesses and conspiracy theories pretty far based on what’s been done (massive geopolitical destabilization), but I’m only going so far as I can be confident, which is that Syria is part of the same failed “Arab Spring” foreign policy that State Department, CIA, and Obamanuts foisted upon Egypt, Algeria, Yemen, and Libya.
Same calls for “No Fly Zones” in Yemen and Libya (2011), by the way...by the *same* people who blasted Bush’s’ No Fly Zones over Iraq pre-2003.
