The father of the gunman who killed nine people at an Oregon community college before turning a gun on himself said the shooting “would not have happened” if his son would not have been able to amass so many weapons.
“The only thing I would like to say is a question that I would like to ask is how on earth could he compound 13 guns? How could that happen? They talk about gun laws, they talk about gun control but every time something like this happens they talk about it and nothing is done,” Ian Mercer told CNN. “I’m not trying to say that’s to blame for what happened but if Chris had not been able to get a hold of 13 guns, it wouldn’t have happened.” Ian Mercer also said he had no idea his son had any guns, let alone more than a dozen. Authorities recovered an additional weapon at the shooter’s home, bringing the total to 14.
Although Ian Mercer said he wouldn’t comment on any psychological issues his son was facing, he also noted that “obviously someone who goes and kills nine people has to have some kind of issue.”....

Strange too, when I first started reading articles about the shooting, there was no mention whether he was killed, or captured. I had to read about 6 articles before I found out that he was dead.
And every report indicated or reported that he had been taken out by law enforcement
Mother was 9 years older than dad. It appears that she also wore the pants.
What I read was, “I bear no responsibility for this. My son bears no responsibility for this. It was the guns. It’s society’s fault for making it easy to get guns.”
If I were a college student today I would conceal carry regardless of the school’s policy.
This week I went into the doctor’s office in a hospital building. It is, of course, a gun free zone. Thinking about the latest incident and the Lubby’s incident in Texas, I decided to carry. Everything was fine until the nurse said, “step up on the scale.” Then she said, “Oh, you’ve gained a few pounds.” (Sigh.)

If a person who ran his car into a crowd and murdered some, would we later fret that because this person had been “allowed” to “amass” a garage full of cars that he was surely a dangerous person?
In this case, the mass murder was possible because this man had been allowed to amass (notice the pejoratives) over a dozen firearms? How can the quantity of firearms in the closet imply anything with respect to wanting to murder or not murder? It appears that he only chose to carry four of them to the college. It remains to be seen how many were actually used.
This is clearly another case of the failure of the law against murder to work. Liberals just cannot accept that government has limited ability to control human nature.
Don't worry about your rights, with your attitude, by the time you decide you need a gun, kiss your ass goodbye, because your soul is going to meet God.
I agree. I think this foreign a-hole should have spent more time nurturing his spawn. He has more to answer for in this event than I or any other gun owner. In the mean time, over 100 million gun owners did not kill or hurt anybody.
