Hoplophobia in city governments has cut down on the possibilities, but in the "old" days, a lot of LEOs picked up guns that had been used in crimes. I had friends whose dads/uncles/etc owned a gun or two which had "interesting" and often slightly macabre histories.
(Funny how few of those guns seemed to develop the supernatural ability to jump out of drawers or climb off shelves and walk - or levitate - about, committing mayhem on their own.)
The guns used by the gargoyle who committed this latest act of evil would creep me out personally, so if I had custody of them I'd likely torch them into scrap. Others wouldn't let it bother them, but my SWAG is that the gov't entity in question will quietly reduce them to chemical components.

If even one of the students in that college class was packing. the story would have been significantly different.
Good article,
That attitude of
‘Come and Take em’
