Russia said on Saturday it will step up air strikes in Syria, escalating a military intervention which Moscow says is weakening Islamic State militants but which Western powers say aims to support President Bashar al-Assad.

A senior Russian military officer said Russian jets based in western Syria had carried out more than 60 sorties in 72 hours across Syria. "We will not only continue strikes... We will also increase their intensity," said Andrei Kartapolov from the Russian army General Staff.

I’m no fan of Russia, but it is refreshing to see someone lead for a change. Even if that leader may turn on us eventually. That part is not comforting at all...

Obama is already having this scrubbed from his daily security briefing that he never attends

From Twitter about 30 minutes ago:

- Multiple ongoing strikes around Raqqa

It’s about 9:30Pm local there.

Assad is a brutal thug, and Russia will certainly turn on us, but they are less of an existential danger than the Syrian extremists and far less dangerous to America than Obama is. I cheer every time the Russians bomb the Syrian opposition, whether their target is Al Qaeda terrorists, ISIS murderers, or the CIA-trained rebels (who were happily sharing a barracks with Al Nusra and are now sharing a pitchfork up their . . .).

If this Russian effort turns out to be even marginally successful how long do you think it will take for Obama to try to jump on the credit bandwagon?

Russia will certainly turn on us

Maybe, but if America remembers what it was and elects someone who will rebuild our manufacturing and military, that should be enough to hold them off. Rebuilding our military worked for Reagan.

To me, the difference is that while Russia is taking these actions in support of its national interest, Obama was taking actions in support of leftist drivel and an attempt to enrich his friends with a gas pipeline. Hey Obama - RUSSIA WON!

He's livid. Russia and Ukraine are coming to terms and it's likely that sanctions will be lifted....except for the US of course....

and he'll use Syria as the excuse.

Obama still doesn't get it....Russia has been an ally of Syria for over 50 years. We don't even have diplomatic relations with Syria. We closed their embassy in DC last year and sent their reps packing.

Agreed. That is why I cheer for Putin and will continue to do so for as long as the most evil thug our country has faced in our entire history occupies our White House. We can recover from facing Putin/Russia, but the West has to survive that long.

FRiends, to help widen the perspective in the Middle East here is a video with translation so sound not needed. This is Putin talking about who created ISIS...

Very interesting on that alone, but early on he unequivocally swats down any contention about Russia-US war...

That is really old school thinking, MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction)

No value in a big bloody mess with no winner, but that is what is being peddled here in the US as the story line...

Watch and See...

Pretty smart.

The Russians bring in a nuclear missile submarine and dock it in Syria. The message is,

“Be a damn shame if you bombed us. One of those missiles might accidentally go off.”

Then, they flew in some of their best antiaircraft weaponry.

Then, they snuck in military aircraft.

They also brought in modern armored vehicles and helicopters.

Putin presented Obama with a fait accompli.

Obama has been way behind on his response.

There is an article that Obama has sent some F-22s to the Middle East. Probably to protect Saudi Arabia. He’ll have to send troops, too.

And then, we all sit back and thank the Democrat Party for putting us, once again, on the brink of a nuclear war.

One actor has unlimited capabilities and NO will.

The other has a compelling will with modest capabilities.

This example makes plain which of those two is the more effective.

The Russians aren’t screwing around, and they seem to be acting on real-time info, very quickly.

From Twitter:
Head of Army of Islam who declared war on #Russia yesterday was killed today in a bunker in NW Syria.

From what Obama said, Russia had Obama's permission (like it needed it) to clean up the rebels while keeping Assad in power as long Assad wasn't in power forever.

Obama wants regime change. Guess he nevert read the results on the Khadafi "illegal" assassination.
