Last night a FReeper asserted that the Russians spoofed (tricked) our smart weapons to inflict a PR blow to the US, who has been critiical of the Russians' use of dumb bombs.

It's possible. Just use powerful transmitters on GPS frequencies to spoof the guidance system into thinking it was somewhere else.

If the signals are stronger than what they can pick up from the satellites, they will process the stronger signals instead.
