North Korea freight train en route to launch pad

The United States, South Korea and Japan have all confirmed the train is headed for the launch pad.

SEOUL, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A freight train has begun moving in the direction of North Korea's Sohae Satellite Launching Station in Tongchang-ri, North Pyongan province.

The train, headed for North Korea's rocket launch pad was first spotted on Thursday, an unidentified source told Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun. Yonhap reported the contents of the freight train were unknown, but it was unlikely given the timing of transportation and the assembly required, a missile launch could take place prior to Oct. 10, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party.

The United States, South Korea and Japan have all confirmed the train is headed for the launch pad, South Korean outlet News 1 reported, and was likely to have departed from a special weapons facility in Sanum-dong, a district in Pyongyang.

You mean the rest of the world doesn’t grind to a halt when Obama goes golfing?

I thought the DC area was getting lots of rain. Did the Caliph head for better climates this weekend?

There’s always a chance it will blow up like the one a couple of years ago. Very impressive satellite photos of that one.

Galaxy Express 999

"999" (pronounced "three nine," I assume meaning three nines) was a famous manga, or Japanese comic book series, from the 1970s about a train that travels in outer space. When an anime film adaptation was made of it, the title song was written and recorded by the top rock group in Japan at the time, Godiego (goh-DYE-goh).

I had the privilege of going to high school in Yokohama with the bass player, Steve Fox, whose 62nd birthday happens to be today.

Just google Ryongchon.

An interesting story that includes Iraeli spies, Syrian rocket scientists, and a cover story of a train full of ammonium nitrate colliding with a train carrying petrochemicals.

I'm glad the Fat Boy Dear Leader is smoking.
Let's send him hundreds of cartons of non-filter Camels and encourage him to keep smoking.
