ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A homeless man fashioned a machete-like blade to a groomed tree branch and speared a hungry black bear cub that was sniffing for food Friday morning at an illegal camp site in Anchorage.

The cub, estimated to be about a year and a half old, and an older bear thought to be its mother had been at the camp site for days stealing food, authorities said.

From the story comments: "How can a homeless person make a home made spear? He would have to have a home to make anything homemade ??? "

I thought that was clever.

In before the unbearable puns. ( I kid. bring em on!)

No more picnic baskets for him. Too bad the homeless guy could not eat the bear.

No need to bother getting the hide made into a rug as he doesn’t have a hearth to adorn.

Now, we know why he’s homeless. He wasn’t even paid for the pest control.

Until we have proper homemade spear control where they are banned, tragedies like this will continue to happen - pResident Agenda

“How can a homeless person make a home made spear? He would have to have a home to make anything homemade ???”

Yea, I was thinking the same. Pretty much the same as 10 years ago when Rush as asking how there could be an “activist group” of people suffering from “Chronic Fatigue
Disorder” - but there really was a group claiming to be just that.

Yea, it was HYSTERICAL. Rush would be reading the story, and then scream “WHOA!!! How can that be?”

I use to belong to an insane Boy scout troop in the early 1970s, Troop 293 out of Hicksville New York (yes that was the name of the town, Hicksville) and the troop was run by hardcore WW2 vets, Rangers and Marines, Bob Greenbaum and Sev Knudsen whose Obit you can read here..

http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/newsday/obituary.aspx?pid=174162735

They would make us camp in the most remote places imaginable with only basic survival gear. Canvas tent, sleeping bag, cooking pan and a knife and we would be shtting in our pants every night as the bears would come around sniffing for food. My God, I remember that like it was yesterday. I felt like meat in a burrito, hearing the sniffing right by the ear, and praying we had gotten rid of all the food. That was so freakin’ crazy. Anyone here from Long Island who was in that Troop? Very hard to find members today, it was like the Marines for kids. I was 12 years old and we’d be camping in sub zero weather, I would wake up and all my clothes would be frozen solid LOL Oh yes and the lovely canvas tents that would constantly leak so if it was raining your sleeping bag would be soaking wet and would freeze or if it was warm enough you’d feel like you were sleeping in a puddle. Oh yes and “Don’t touch the tent walls, that’s what makes them leak”. LOL! But the bears though, holy God, that was the worst. Today they never ever do that in a million years with kids.

he’ll no doubt get the death penalty for it- now, if it was a late term fetus, why everything would be just fine then
